It dosnt matter how much we ask for real info

This is information K-TAM got a while ago and even this is incomplete. Sheesh. Do we need to pull a Snowden here Trion? We don't want to burn our bridges, but seriously this is chicken feed. We know MS gave assent for release Yesterday, PSN gave it a while ago. There is no excuse now to not give a release date. We know what it is and You know who told us which is why you keep removing posts when I share it. I have been trying to work with Defiance and Trion to offer more story content and lore and the only people I can get it from are people you fired. This is not open communication.

It's been MONTHS that the DLC has been delayed. We know why, Trion fired all the people working on it, thinking it was done, but you had issues, and no staff to fix it so it took longer... baby out with the bath water, and we also know there are no other DLCs prepared. How? Trion fired all the people who made the first one, this means you don't have the people to produce the other DLCs. Now Trion is closing the Defiance studio and letting go what remained of those who were/could be working on additional DLCs.

We get the game is not what it was supposed to be. Everyone has admitted it. I get you have PR to do, but your PR is ALL WRONG. The spin is so bad it's out of control and clamming up is just strapping yourself into a chair on the deck of the Titanic. Change the spin, correct the spin and just come out with the info. Not just a few pages of it either. Not redacted... just come out with it and let the community, the true investors in Defiance, make the choice to either support the game or not. Let the game pass or fail on it's own merits and not B.S. people and perpetuate what many are starting to view and perceive as a scam with the DLCs and season passes.

Pretty much all they can say now is stuff along the lines of that they can't say more, people should stop making threads on it, and we should have patience and show them the respect they have yet to earn.

What the powers that be should learn from all the other potentially great games that have came and failed is a simple lesson.

You screw up that's fine but don't lie and misdirect because of it. These are games not political elections.

Own your mistakes be forthcoming and give real info sure your going to piss people off that's a given.

But I guarantee you will earn more loyal players than you loose that way. Yes its gaming yes their are fundamental diffrences. But on the overall it is like any other business small or large .You keep loyal customers/players with honest informative practices .

No you don't keep everyone happy but you do make a good name for your business wich keeps crap like the layoff and restructures from happening.

As of right now trion defiance team has no rights to ask for patience or understanding. What they do have is a pizzed off player base that's about ready to walk away. More bad pr than they can get a lid on , And a severe case of rug sweeping.


They want to fix it then go to the people that do control info flow and tell them what they are loosing. Then come back and give the info people who have been loyal to the game deserve.

To hell with coming soon and please wait they lost the right to ask for those things when they let it get this bad. Its time to step up take their lumps and either correct it or be ( for lack of a better phrase) man enough to except their shortcomings and Acknowledge they screwed the pooch.

I've yet to hear the studio got broke into by ninja Lemur's that held the entire team hostage just to prolong the DLC.

Now that would be the kind of excuse i'd like to hear.

As far as everything else you put .... I think it pretty much goes without saying now, that's how a lot of people seem to feel.

I think that's what a lot of people are wanting to say in a round about way.

If they want our patience and faith .... give us a reason .... well, not me personally i'm a mug, i'll be here anyway (mainly because other forums want me to be serious and that makes my fingers burn).

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone tells me they "can't" do something when actually they "won't" do something. You can talk about it you just choose not to, which is your choice.

No, it's not always the case that they can talk about things. And there's often little room between can't and won't in terms of fan expectation. If they always did all they are allowed to do fans would eat them alive. There's far more room between what fans need and what they want. And far more confusion between the two. Those working on a project are not always those in charge of a project and often cannot reveal all that's going on. Just take a look at the raptor turret "discussions" where people are accusing them of killing babies (hyperbole).

Trion can't come out and say or won't come out and say, "this is what we're working on for the DLC" because then people act like it was promised to be in the DLC and if it isn't, they'll accuse them of lying and killing old people (hyperbole).

They said they weren't considering turrets for raptors and likely meant they weren't considering releasing the DLC with turrets on raptors once they tested it and saw some problems. But people take that to mean that they said the had never considered putting turrets on raptors, you fans are idiots if you think we ever considered turrets on raptors, and nowhere in our project did anyone ever think we might put turrets on raptors, you people are imagining turrets on raptors. That's how things work here. So won't means can't and I can accept that-bottom line they both mean they aren't going to talk about what they can't or won't, no matter the word used. Fans and bosses sort of determine both.

Oh please. This is the video game world and not medicine you need to cure cancer. And the real scenario is not great games that came and failed because of lies or misinformation or problems, but bad games that came and stayed because fans are too stupid to ask big gaming companies to stop treating them like doorknobs. They'd rather fight over some game that makes them seem cool to their friends or looks or sounds cool or is in a popular franchise than to ever ask those really rich and bloated devs to make better products and stop treating fans like trained monkeys. But Pavlov rules and fans will buy some real garbage as long as it seems cool. Oh and specific companies make it-these companies can release the same junk year after year with a new look and new gun skins and people can't wait to buy new and shiny.

You wanna hold Trion's feet to the flames for mistakes they've made-fine, but be clear in the things you are specifically saying they have done that have cost you money or that have kept you from getting your money's worth. Me, I never had to pay out more than $60 for this game and compared to the 5-10 hour wonder games out there that some companies are releasing, I've had over 1000 hours of actual fun play. Sure some not as fun as others but for the most part it's all been fun.

I've played other games and seen delays for DLC, broken promises, lies (real lies), freeze ups, lag, broken games, games that broke consoles, and more and fans like Lemmings have made those games wildly popular.

Fans need to get real and stop acting like Trion is the scourge of the gaming world. There are far too many companies that own that moniker but they're beloved by fans and puppies alike.

It's also due to this gaming ADD that fans seem to have now that all companies have to hurry and dump any old thing on the market. The sooner the better, whether it's ready or not. Some companies can screw the pooch and have fans eager to help them keep doing it, over and over and over and over again, year after year. So of course the real culprit is Trion.

You mean the respect that no one ever attempted to give them but that they'd give a drunken monkey? You mean actual patience instead of hyperbolic nasty accusations? Some people repeatedly have come here to complain about things that were not even problems in their games, or to all but demand that people make Trion fail, or have even misunderstood things and when shown they don't man up and admit it. Some for their own reasons decided that Trion promised DLC to be released a week after the game was and holds everyone apparently to a higher standard than I'd ever hope to be held to in my life.

It's simply often the case that people with real problems have gotten drowned out by people that want attention and want everyone to feel sorry for them. Wah, they're nerfing my gun, wah I want all my DLC now, wah I want I want I want. I never thought I'd say this but I actually feel sorry for anyone creating anything based upon fan expectations that have nothing to do with legitimate complaints. Those with legitimate complaints need to be heard. Everyone else needs to re-examine how they've handled themselves. Respect. Bah! They're a business and they're people. It's about time people remembered they are both and just tried to be decent. I don't think some know how to.

Even an entire company can be held accountable to another or group of them. Realistically, it could take all day to run through the multitude of channels and individuals information has to run through before being approved for public dissemination.

You have to remember that while Trion has developed the game, their interests are still tied to the IP of "Defiance" as a whole which they do not solely own. I'm not saying this is or isn't the case, but it is entirely possible that some of the decisions in regards to PR releases and the way information about the game is released are still up to SyFy(read NBC Universal) as the actual owner of the IP.

You can come back with "That's a bunch of shtako," or, "That doesn't make any sense," and I could be completely wrong but I'm betting this is in some roundabout way what's going on. Somewhere, in an office, is a person who makes a lot more than you and I combined, and they are looking at a sheet of numbers. Based on what they see, they are handing down a ruleset that must be obeyed by everyone who is involved on every side of this project.

Chances are they don't read the forums or pay much attention to the general internet traffic that people like you, me and Dahanese see on a daily basis, but that doesn't change the fact that what they say goes. Frustrating, I know, but not unrealistic.

I've alluded to it before, but starting Monday we're going back to the drawing board and completely re-evaluating the priority list of stuff you guys want to make sure we still have it all in the right order, then we're going to give it to the team.

I just want you guys to know that we're not a bunch of suits sitting behind giant desks and that there isn't a huge group of people gumming up the works. That being said, there ARE groups we have to go through, and first parties and all that jazz, so things can't happen at lightning speed. But if you want to know if the top guys on Defiance want to know what the hardcore specifically are saying (and the larger group of fans as well) I was specifically asked to redo our list last week from the head dudes. And "the people who are most passionate on the forums" was a specific request. Seriously.
