But time will tell if dahanese is just lip sinking again or if they actualy mean what they say, But I wont hold my breath either.
I repeated myself so much in that post, but I wanted the point to get across. Plus, I blew out my knee again in a family football game today at a birthday party (old pro-wrestling injury that won't stop making a come back), it's after midnight and I am tired but unable to sleep, and I am just fed up. I sent the game back in late April and got the $60 refund because I saw the writing on the wall. Recently bought it again for $10, because that price point at least seemed fair given the track record of the Defiance team thus far.

I love the show. Love the setting and lore (we're actually going to be play testing our upcoming, new tabletop RPG system in October using the Defiance setting with my personal group). I enjoy the game. But enough of the talk. Unless they are clearly stating a DLC release date and a full content list, concrete fix and update information, and a real status of things . . . the talk needs a bit more value to even be considered cheap.

I believe knowing why allows us to avoid it in the future. You learn from the past mistakes or history repeats, I understand what you are saying and our end goals are the same.

Making Defiance the best game it possibly can be. Although I never stated that they canceled Season 2, I actually said I heard that they renewed it and area already filming it! I'm daft but not that daft haha.

I quoted someone else in my post about the cancellation topic. When I was in turn quoted by someone else, it didn't show who I quoted for that section. That wasn't a response to you at the end, amigo.

Us knowing the Why's and Who's of what happened does nothing for future avoidance. We, sadly, have no affect on that. That comes down to Trion, and from their own in-house management and production capabilities and operation procedures.

Will the move to Redwood (where Rift is handled, and what I consider the real Trion studio) make a difference? Will Hartman assuming the CEO position change things for the better? Did the layoffs cut the poor performers, or did they also gut quality people due to financial issues? Those answers we can only expect to see by what the next few months bring.

I have friends in the MMO industry (at Cryptic, Carbine, and formerly at Petroglyph when they were working with Trion on End of Nations). I know a bit from them on how it all works, how a bad management team can screw up even a good dev team, and how a bad dev team can't even be fixed by a good management team. Where Defiance is at, overall, by mid-December will pretty much be the deciding factor for me. If they can't get their act even remotely together by 8 months after launch, then I can't imagine hanging on to hope for 2014.

"change...is inevitable. It's the one constant in the verse that effects all. There will be pains, there will be victories, and little pleasures along the way....It's a journey of a thousand leagues that starts with a single step.....then another....then another...till you reach the end. Change...is inevitable."

for good, for ill....the journey is all that matters....everything else is like swatting flies on pow schtako. sure, you may annihilate a few, but you end up covered from head to toe in filth in the process.

Dahanese, you're a trooper darlin'.....thanks for what you have given us so far. We know the world is broken, pitted, and scarred.

for some of us, we get it...things are not right in Camelot at the moment. Yet, we still have faith that the cracks can be mended, old wounds healed, and the world restored....

for others, the glass is always half empty, the food never enough to satisfy, and the conversation lacking.....

    but that's ok....

we all have one thing in common though......we only complain, we only praise, we only criticize, and we only suggest because deep down inside each, and every one of us....we really really do care about the game, and where it's going.....the only question is "where?"

keep tha' faith chika, we all may be rabid bat ****e crazy gamers, but we're YOUR rabid bat ****e crazy gamers....and that's something to smile about.

    Good journeys.........

You know despite all these threads, posts, youtube video's, and meta critic reviews, IGN reviews, or any other review stating something in line with what I am saying.

Your solution, to have players leave and come back at the end of the year... Yeah I mean Trion definitely wants to loose potential profits for an entire year just so they can stay the course that they have been for the past 4 months, as you said they are scrambling to try and repair these issues with the community.

This tip of the had to allow us to view their plans and wants will require literally little to no work, they already have a master clipbboard, NOT TO MENTION, Dalanese's job is Community Relations... So we're to believe if she does her job that all the sudden the other developers can't? She can't, as a community relations worker, go and figure out the workflow from the master clipboard/whiteboard and make a useable blog in a pleasing manner can post and then have users give feedback on it?

So basically, the community developers should just keep giving us hollow empty answers and circular conversations. I really don't see some of your reasonings here that a whole team of devs can't do their job, and the other devs can't take 20-30 minutes to drop a post or at least dictate a post to Dahanese.
You're asking for Trion to be more transparent and I agree that they can and should be. They SHOULD share their road map with the community as to where they plan to take the game in the future, both short term and long term. They should encourage community feedback on that plan. I suspect they will. I've worked with Scott Hartsman in the past and he's a very transparent guy.

But Scott just took over as the CEO of Trion four days ago. two of those days were Saturday and Sunday. I'm pretty sure HE was working over the weekend, just as we saw Dahanese was but Scott has a LOT on his plate at the moment. It's gonna take some time to right the Defiance ship. I'm confident he can and will do it.

[Side note]: We've seen some comments in this thread about NDAs. I've signed plenty of them over my career in the Valley and as a gamer. I can't remember ALL of them, but I do remember two that I have with Trion. I was never a Trion employee but I was a contractor on the Rift project. I no longer work with them and I'm not going to disclose any secrets.

I've seen how Scott does things and I'm confident this ship will get ship shape soon.

Though admittedly there are a lot of problems with the game, none of them seem so big as to detract from what is basically a fun, innovative games, except for one critical devastating mistake. Trion overpromised the future and didn't deliver. I think most of the people who became disenchanted for that reason. This has become a very tough, very competitive industry has the number of MMO choices has exploded in the last several years. Because of that Trion has to keep people excited and make a few promises and give people a glimpse at the future to keep their interest, but at the end of the day it also has to deliver on those promises. In short they need to offer realistic glimpses and promises.

If Trion keeps that in mind, and can begin to deliver new content on a regular basis, and make realistic promises they can keep while slowly improving the fundamentals of the game I think everything will work itself out. It will take time for them to win back the trust of their fan base however.

To me, this is a good conversation to have but the onus falls completely on Trion to deliver the goods.
I know that We can all hammer away at out qwerty devices until the keys pop off but, what is this going to accomplish?
As it stands we are throwing double-handsfull of jargon at each other and the mood and intensity just keeps ramping up, Dahanese looks on at a heavyweight prizefight over non-disclosure agreements and Scott working all weekend and I throw in dumb movie lines to lighten this up.
I want this to succeed like we all do, I want to know more like we ALL do but I know that no one is going to show up to an argument just because we are hosting one. What are we now, 12 pages into this thread?
We can get 12 more before before it degenerates into "My dad can beat up Your dad".
Let's keep it on the positive here, guys.

It's kind of funny, I'm usually the more vocal one but I've been kind of quelled as I test out the DLC.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?
