No auto-equip on looting?

One of the things that annoyed me during beta was when I would pick up a weapon/shield/grenade as loot, it would automatically equip it.

Is there a way to turn this off that I missed?

are you holding down the pick-up button? cause ive never had something auto equipped. then again i only press the button once never hold it down

Yeah, it took me a while to catch on to it but if you tap the button you'll pick it up. If you hold it, even briefly in my experience, it auto-equipped

yea i had that problem, then figured out that if i just tap the button instead of hold it...... problem solved.

I found it through trial and error - checking my inventory to find I wasn't wearing the shield I thought I was. tap picks it up, holding it auto-equips.

Personally I would like an option in the menu to disable it, but I guess I can just control how I push the button

Only bug i ran into was Modding a orange infector. I.e adding a mod slot to it, got disconnected and when i got back in, i was rolled back to a couple of minutes earlier and the infector was gone from inventory completely. Yes as someone mentioned earlier, if you do a quick button tap you throw it in inventory, look at the button too long and your using it.

Ok, I naturally assumed that you had to hold down the button since you do for every thing else.

I felt really dumb when i found this out in the beta and i felt like a total idiot
