Thing is, most of the cryers have been around since alpha/beta so they are very attatched to their guns and some have even come up with pet names for them. You have the privelige of being farely new, if you joined the forum when you got the game, so you are not attatched to a gun yet.

Don't get why companies find it necessary to try and cover things up. Trick did a great job of explaining why the turret was removed during his ktam interview, yet all over Trion employees chose to try and hide the issue. All I know is I'm done believing anything Trion says.

A couple of weeks ago we lost all the Defiance friday and wednesday twitch streams of play throughs and question answers. Official answer was they were just lost, though the Rift ones remain virtually intact even from the same days.

A week ago we lost all the old documentation off the original alpha forums that showed all the issues that the game was experiencing then and still now to a certain extent. It also had some lore tidbits from former devs, and many other things.
Official answer was that it was being made ready for the Test server.

Yesterday those scrubbed forums were completely removed and there's just a subforum section on here instead. Official answer was to make it feedback more accessible to players.

And there are more examples of these things. What concerns me is that I cant shake the feeling that this is just the beginning.

Here's the thing:

1. If you buy into the belief that they are conspiratorially attempting to remove evidence that holds them accountable this is pretty evident proof for you.

2. If you dont buy into the conspiratorial belief of that, what was done is -still- bad because it shows evidence of poor management of things.

So either way, the result is unfavorable for Trion.

I see they have locked and or deleted all the threads with anything to do with the closing of the main defiance studio.

It just 'unhappened'.

Oh, come on. It is a game. If they f' it up badly enough go play another.
I am still having fun, so I am still playing.

I understand the knicker twist over "we have always been at war with" but that is marketing decision making.
The CMs likely are told what higher ups decided they should say. Even when the higher ups don't have a clue they are just trying to make a PR statement without having to actually take someone away from working on their assigned task.
These people are in a corporation. Truth is irrelevant to "public face we wish to present." and "message".

Look, their handling of Defiance isn't the first time. Back around February 2013, they insisted Rift was not going F2P, that there was no worry. In May 2013 (3 months later), they announce the Rift F2P model and say that it's been in the works for almost a year.

Welcome to Trion, apparently students of the SOE School of Marketing and PR. Play the game if you enjoy it (I play both Defiance and Rift, still), but take anything said by Trion with much more than a grain of salt.
