Problems with Defiance, as a whole

First thing we need to do with Defiance is make the forums work like Twitter with a max of 140 characters so I don't have to read essay like original posts and essay like replies. Just get to the point. Ty

They can keep the gameplay and still make it an mmorpg and it would succeed many times over compared to the mess we got now. This game needs the storyline and social features of an mmorpg or it's going to disappear quickly.

check the Alpha Test Server forums for reactions to the chat window. some good, some bad.

thanks, just downloaded it now. it still seems unwieldy. not resizable, keep changing channels whenever i go to big chat window which blocks more than half the screen.
wish they got a resizable window on bottom right with flippable channel ala guildwars2.

Hehehehe. I wasn't expecting nor desiring the Mods to read mine. It was just my feelings on why something like Defiance, with the lore, racial tensions, setting, and stories, would have been better as an MMORPG instead of a mediocre MMOTPS. Not to mention how Syfy has done more for Defiance than Trion (the damned I.P. owners). The fact that I had to applaud Syfy is bad enough.

I'm not expecting nor asking them to redesign the game, though.

It would be really nice to have a hangout of some sort at least a mount tam. I'm new and it would be nice to go somewhere I can find someone to go hit a target with me. Or accompany someone on theirs, even if I might have done it already. I've tried talking to 'around' at mount tam but no one answers and I've been reading and possibly the chat is at fault. Never gotten a reply yet, even at the revival stop, where I'm about to head back in. I might be doing it wrong, but it sure would be nice to have a few tents on mt tam specified for people who want to talk to others. As it is, if I'm stuck, instead of being able to get any information from someone, I leave the game and come to the forum...

Look, Defiance is losing it's player base. It has to be, or why else would the powers that be keep on cutting the price of the basic game? Now they have po'ed the people who paid full price ($59) by cutting the price to only $10!!! H*ll they've po'ed the people who paid $30 for the game also!

This was supposed to be a game that coincided with the Sci Fi series, so, where is the town/s, the bar and a social setting? You want people to play? There has to be social!!! There are so many 1st person shooters out there, it is silly! You have to offer people more, especially for an on-line game. You want people to pay, you've got to give them more then 1 alien race to play, and going bang bang bang all the time.

I'm not interested in PvP, I'm playing the game on my laptop, and the game freezes occasionally and I die. BUT, I am interested in interacting with other players, and there is NO venue in the game to do so.
If the game stays as it is, I see it lasting, but with a limited player base . . . even if it has a good show on Sci Fi to keep it going . . . simple DLC with “new” races to play, new clothes/uniforms, weapons, vehicles is not going to keep people interested. Look at the games that have social interface, they survive and thrive . . . those that do not, slowly die (there are way too many games out there to make comparisons).

I bought the $30 game, and got the expanded version the next month after trying the free version. I was hoping that the expanded would open up some looked for social interface with other players. I am sure not going to buy any DLC, unless there is something more offered. I can do a shoot-em-up by playing “Fallout: New Vegas,” “World of Tanks,” or “Marvel Heroes” for that matter cheaper and just as fun

As far as I'm concerned, after 2 months of playing and that I've done all there is except defeat the last villain . . . then, you've lost me as well.

You have not done it all in 2 months or are you tryin to tell me you have all your weapons leveled to 20 and all your vehicle licenses at 20 and have earned trusted with all Faction/Rep Vendors and also have 5000 ego.

If Not you have not done all. Like wow you haven't even beaten Nim the Final Boss and most of the players have beat him 2 or 3 times or more each time using a different weapon to make it interesting and fun.

Listen there is 5 dlcs to come and hit this game and Trion is working very hard to give the players what they want and need to keep this game going

Fallout New Vegas: get real I beat that game in 6 play days start to finish and the dlcs are no longer than 2 or 3 hours tops, if that

World of Tanks how can you compare a totally free to play game in which they are constantly giving away free stuff to keep what little players they have

And Marvel Super Heroes is a totally different based game, not even close to Defiance

You want to RP and social interaction, join a clan. If that doesn't suit you, feel free to hop on over to a game that has what you want. Nobody is going to hold your hand and interact with you. 2 months and haven't beaten Nim? ROFL

Like posted above, this won't happen due to the consoles. It would require a remake of many of the parts of the game. If it upsets you that much, just move on. You aren't interested in PvP, you haven't finished the story, but you have done all there is to do? Personally, it sounds to me like you are some whiny kid that wants to be catered to.

of course, i don't play the game 24/7 like some people, and i'm not using a gaming puter, jusy my lil laptop, which lags a lot and freezes quite a bit . . . so, unlike you I don't put other players down
