Probably to make it easier on people to track them down. They are from multiple sources that not everyone has access to. Of course online lists make hunting for them pointless for most people, but someone did have to do the work for everyone else. I don't think it will be expanded beyond 120 necessary codes to unlock everything, as this is basically a publicity stunt.

If they do raise the cap post launch, it makes me wonder if there will be codes hidden in the game somewhere.....
