I for the most part only play female characters. I started back in AC and EQ. IN EQ, I didn't like most of the models that they had for the males, but decided that my half elf bard should be female. Then people would walk up to me and just hand me stuff without me doing anything. I guess it had to do with chainmail looking like fishnets on half elves.
In AC they finally put in clothing we could wear......if you were female. A lot of nice dresses.
I realized that in games I am a bit opposite than I am IRL. IRL I don't care for dressing up. Pant and t-shirt and I am good to go. In games though, I love to dress my characters up in fancy clothes and have several outfits for them.
That is when I realized, that the majority of the people making these games are male and tend to put more effort into the female models and customization. I started playing mostly female characters as they looked better than the males and often had more options.
City of Heroes was a big example of this. The wedding pack came out and had a couple of tuxes for males, but tuxes, dresses, veils and so forth for females.
I do occasionally make male characters like my SWTOR Sith Warrior. He is basically a Sith who became a light side swashbuckler who intends to sleep his way through the known universe while trying hard not to piss off Vette since he likes her. "Hey Vette, why don't you head back to the ship. I will finish up here."

Wow at all the sad guys that say they make a video game character female to look at their bum.
Why look at the character's bum when there are mobs to be killed? plus when you're in a roller, (which I was for half of the beta) there's no time to even try bothering.
Plus, there are websites designed for looking at girls' bums, go and look one up THEN start playing the game.
And if that doesn't even appeal to you, try outside, i hear there are quite a few females out there

Bioware really needs to stop being so stuck up. Just because I like to play female characters doesn't mean that I should be penalized by not being able to delve into some of the better romance options...
Have to point out the irony of noting the existence of real life, on a forum for a game that takes place in a made up world, about made up characters with made up back sides... /wink
