Online stalker. Been there. That is why I don't give ANY details or post photos. You can scream I'm a guy or whatever you want, but until you've had some psycho invade your life on and OFF line (my stalker came to the apartment where my ex and I lived), you don't understand how paranoid that can make you.

I usually play male characters, because I tend to prefer the mesh models used for male characters. Female meshes often have weirdly thin arms and shoulders, and bizarrely proportioned heads/necks. Also, I'm male, which influences that choice, I guess.

A while back I RP'd some female characters for some practice with female dialogue, but I was very careful to let people down gently when they tried to make a move.

There was one Russian guy with very bad English. I'd killed him, and he was cussing me out in Russian, for about twenty minutes. For fun, I responded in RP as a female, since I was on the female character. He was quiet for about five minutes (while he translated what I'd said, I suppose) and then he came on strong. Really strong. NSFW strong.

So I laughed, and let him down hard.

In Defiance I'll be playing a male Irathient, and then whatever the DLC race is next.

But as some people have been linking males with female toons to sexuality and femininity/masculinity, I'll link you to Steve Hughes.

I had a guy that tried the "Prove to me you are a woman, or I will just assume you are a guy" line on me once. My reply to him was "Please do, that way I don't have to ignore you." It settled that issue, and we went on to become fairly good friends in the game despite him never quite knowing one way or the other.

I tend to find most online games the other way; the women are well done, but the male characters are terrible looking! I was pleasantly surprised with Defiance though, and I will have one of my characters be a man as I found a look that I liked. The other two will be an Irathient and Human women.

I'm a girl that plays MMOs on occasion. FPS mmos are a new thing for me. I started with Firefall and am now trying this after it was suggested by my significant other.

However, like all MMOs I've played (Ultima, EQ, WoW, SWToR) and this, I make it a point to make sure I do not let others know I'm a woman in real life. If asked I say I'm a guy or will avoid the topic all together.

I also avoid sweet talk or cutsie talk if I can avoid it. Sometimes it slips, but for the most part I always steer OOC and RP conversations to the game at hand and away from personal life. I'm the type of **** that will put you on /ignore or avoid you if you start asking me personal questions or getting too friendly. It's not that I want to be mean, it's just that I want to relax and enjoy the game and not be pestered.

I will only use voice chat if absolutely necessary (like in WoW) and usually that turns into a mess. For what ever reason once they find out I'm a girl, they begin to whisper me their drama.

I tend to prefer simple games that are simple to get into and play. I avoid "raiding" or any form of hardcore play. I'm just not fast enough or interested enough to learn the ins and outs of a game. Hence you'll rarely see me playing something like League of Legends or games like that.

I deplore guys playing as girls and here's why; they give us a bad rap. The occasional guy that plays a female character and doesn't try to pass off as a woman in real life, I'm more than fine with. When they start doing the political correct White Knighting of; "As a woman, I'm insulted by XYZ" I always roll my eyes and say good grief.

Best way to be put on my ignore list or avoided is to be a guy trying to pass off as a lesbian girl hitting on me. Straight to the /block or ignore chute. No offense intended.

    Well from your thread title...
How can you pose as a female character?
So someone could say play an MMO select the elf race and they are posing as an elf I suppose?

Now if someone selected a female character and said they were a woman IRL but were actually a man than this person is called a GIRL. Guy In Real Life. And if they are doing it for freebies than shaaaaaaame on them.

But men playing as female characters simply because they like to look at a female form over a male one. Completely normal.
