You, sir, just won the award for point #10.
I'm at a loss for what the hell happened, here. Even more so after experiencing the DLC on the Alpha Server. I've been a Trion Worlds customer since 2011 via Rift. Then, I expanded with them into being a customer for Defiance.
I still can't believe this game, general service, and communication fiasco is the same company I've been loyal to for 2 years. It's like night and day.
It's also made me feel that, unless it is the Rift team involved, I'd probably be better off taking my chances on the next game from SOE or Cryptic Studios.
Same day as SR4.... Now I have to choose what to play! How do I choose?!?!

Or, maybe not everyone gives a crap about saints row ? I know I don't, and will be playing this DLC as soon as it goes live. Thank you, for the Date and the communication. I appreciate it, and hope to enjoy the content and look forward to all that is still to come.
Your right not everyone cares about saints row, the problem my little small minded friend. Po8nt of the DLC is to get it out to as many people as possible. Releasing the dlc the same day as two large triple a title cuts into the amount of people who will purchase the DLC. So Trion who is already in financial troubles, as can be seen by the changing of management and closure of offices and mass layoffs of personal. Decides to release this at the wrong time.
Now yes I understand some people will purchase this DLC insttead of these other titles. But enough will forgoe buying this DLC because of it. Now if you want to take the fan boy stance and throw common sense out the window. Go for it. Dont think for one second that the loss of sales because of these games won't hurt Trions bottom line.
Now when you think about that then think that the sales from this DLC and the bits sale keeps development going for Defiance. Now when you think this game will run as long as the company makes a profit from their work. The moment development cost exceeds the money coming in from sales then they cut back development. So how long do you think things will keep running at the current rate of people leaving, poor decisions by Trion and poor sales of DLC due to poor planing of deployment and delays.
Unless Trion smartens up and starts doing things right the clock is ticking. All itsgoing to ttake is this DLC performing poorly and server issues at launch. This DLC breaks the game causing down time there will be another rash of eff this game and people moving on. Sorry if you don't want to face it but Defiance is losing more people then its gaining. Oh they throw the spin doctor they have over 1million accounts registered.....60% of those havent logged on in months but hey its an account.
When will you learn.
Grymms actually has a point here. I am one who is not interested in the other games coming out that day, and will gladly pick up the DLC and play the crap out of it on release day. But not everyone is going to be like me. SR and SC both have huge fanbases as they are both existing franchises that have been out many years. So many of their fans are going to get those games as soon as they launch. Does that mean they won't get the Defiance DLC? No, it doesn't. But it means that most won't be getting the Defiance DLC on that day, or maybe even week/month.
I don't think it should be pushed back any further either. I think more should have been done to launch it sooner. What if it launched in July like intended? There weren't that many AAA titles coming out then. They could have tried harder to get it out then, left out the stuff that's bugged (much like they are doing now anyway) and just added to it in patches from then until whenever. Heck, even releasing it a week before the 20th would have been a better business move.
Don't get me wrong, I am really happy that it is coming out next week. I have been looking forward to it for a long time. But the point that some of these guys are trying to make is that it is going to have some serious competition which will lower the total sales of the DLC on launch date. Lower sales may make Trion not work hard to push out another DLC in a more timely fashion. Let's hope not, cuz after next week, I will be ready for DLC2
It is probably deliberate tbh.
Do they really want everyone that can and might, buying the DLC and downloading all at same time then hitting servers all at same time and then flooding forums with gripes...all at same time?
Maybe they think this is best way to stagger the *hordes* on DLC release day. After all the new releases wont stop people buying and trying DLC , it will just delay them by days/weeks.
Either way, better news for us who are here for stability etc. The missing folk sure as hell aint going to be the make or break of Defiance, its not walking a knife edge that much.
