Except your analogy is erroneous. The DLC would be the equivalent of a cruise control option on the vehicle. While you can get it it certainly can be done without and the car vehicle still operates.

If Defiance runs on "E" in the future, it wont be because people didnt buy the DLC. It will because the vehicle failed to meet the needs of the consumer and was, for all intent and purpose, a lemon. :P

Although the 2 new Consoles coming out are touting "Water-walking" as one of their latest breakthroughs, I'm gonna' err on the side of common sense and wait to see if the NextGen crew can actually run what they say they can. Vaporware is turning into the herpes of the gaming world lately.

then I take home and try and both taste like garbage in you mouth so then, I say why the HEll I buy two and waste more money because the sign said 'DEAL!!!'. this is what you say right now so it makes no sense only if you see proof first then you only save what, $5 that is not worth risk of $50 for me sorry
I don't think I've spent very much money (yet) on Defiance. I bought the Standard Edition for 40 euro (from a 3rd Party site), and later upgraded to the deluxe edition for 20 euro (direct to Trion) and have now paid 30 euro (direct to Trion) for the Season pass.
That's 90 euro total, or about $120 at today's exchange rate.

If we never get anymore content than DLC 1, I feel I've received my money's worth. With the additional content that I expect, it's all gravy.

I was pointing out that we all bought this "car" and it's only gonna' go as far as the money we're willing to keep pumping into it. This is NOT a AAA game that requires lil' to no additional financial input inorder to continue after the initial purchase. It's an online MMO Shooter. Online meaning requirments such as dedicated server bandwith, character progression storage, ice cream parties for the devs when no one's lookin'. With that understood, I was commenting on the entirety of the situation that is Defiance, not a small part of it(the DLC), like you think. I know, I know... This makes your submission a wee bit facetious, but hey, it's koo' guy.

    *shakes head*

It's amazing to me how much money people will spend on lockboxes to get stuffs when they have the same chance as me (who pays nothing) to get the same GGGB combo of crap.

I get that some people don't mind this and have the money to spend; I'm not downing on anyone. Just personally? Wow. I need to make a crap-shoot of an MMO with a bit store of sorts... Whose with me!?

ok you must be rich cause this amount is a lot to me, why I waited for price drop. that is big more than other games so like saintsrow 4 coming 20th it's nowhere near that so I save money here buy that. $120 any currency is a lot but you said you buy not even knowing what content is good or bad even and that's the big part sir.

if you like spending ok cool and fine but most ppl it's crazy to spend money as hope companies will do wht they are spose to do, give good content not wishing and slow in delivery? see as below..

not as a slight to you but you see how this is stupid to other looking outside? spend with no regard, must be rich cool. ok sorry but you ask for opinion in post so just give mine no disrespect.. and sorry for the English. it's fine sometimes if wrong

Buying the season pass now, with all the fail Trion has committed, imo is wasted money. All that matters though is that YOU feel you have got your money's worth.

You analogy associates the game as a car and the dlc(as a mechanism of revenue) as its gas. Such is based soley on the premise that the game will flounder if it does not continue to provide a satisfactory revenue stream. The sentence highlighted reflects this in your post below:

The reason why I stated that your analogy was erroneous is because the revenue from the dlc, or future dlc's is not necessarily an earmark of failure of the project. The fundamentals of the game, how the game is mismanaged and more will be what will conditionally be viewed as the decline of the game in the future.

Your response to my post above though attempted to retroactively change the continuity of that statement to an over arching comment of the game as a whole that aligns itself more with what I stated to begin with. That's fine and I can agree with the resulting conclusion of that retcon without the need to clown car itemize its revenue sustainability needs to validate it. :P

Yep, been a season pass holder since 4/27. Started playing on launch day and immediately loved the game. By that 3-4 week point, I realized that it had already given me more hours of play time for my purchase price than most any other game in recent memory. So buying the season pass was an easy decision at that point, as it was already well past the usual fun-per-dollar ratio for games.

Since then of course, the ratio has only gotten better. I'm several hundred hours ahead now, which is more time than I've spent in any non-subscription game in years. I did the math a couple of weeks ago, and to compare with Defiance, these other games I buy that only last 10-20 hours should have cost about $2-$4.
