Just curious if a game CAN actually mess ppl over that way
I think it's the fact that they can't please everybody not that the game actually screwing me over.

I've bought WoW expansions that I've just hated and could have lived without. I've bought DLCs to games that I'm never going to touch the new content on. And I've bought lifetime subs to games which I'm now convinced if I do that, it just means the game is doomed to f2p. That kind of stuff.

It may also depend on how it was to be implemented and how we play the game. Apparently it was what I'd say is too big in scope and in the KTAM interview discussing San Anselmo (which I just read) they say the same thing-that it could have been used in a smaller fashion. Hub implies it's a place where everyone can gather, but I can see the problem with that-it would have caused far more lag than the game already has. Whenever anyone has talked about a hub or adding things to arkfalls, I think it's pretty well understood what the problems are in doing so. Just like issues the sieges had, where Bolinas was almost unplayable due to lag at times. Too many demands on the resources at hand.

As I see it real people would be allowed in in smaller groups-it's like if you go into certain instances there won't be 25 people there at the same time. And then as I said maybe shanty towns with NPCs but not all sections rendered at the same time-they render as you enter them. Just suggestions and not necessarily good ones, but examples.

    :O!!!

It bears the mark of the Doom-Beast!!!!

Kill it till' it's dead then kill it sum moar!!!

Naaa', I'm in the same boat with my lifers on CO, STO, TSW, but I look at as me giving up a dedicated amount at the start which may have meant the game was able to last long enough to prop itself up for the business model change that allowed it to continue till this day. After all, Lifer subs lets me come and go as I please, and I'm still tech able to do so.

Here's hoping ESO tosses up a Lifer option aswell.

If you are planning to buy them all separately....you know you save money on a seasons pass right? Not only that, but if you plan to buy them all anyway, just grab the season pass and hook Trion up with some much needed revenue for Defiance lol, might make future DLC better
true yes this is true but I was in a store and I saw 'buy one get oen free' and I thought hey good deal! for me so I spend little more now but I got both at good price.

then I take home and try and both taste like garbage in you mouth so then, I say why the HEll I buy two and waste more money because the sign said 'DEAL!!!'. this is what you say right now so it makes no sense only if you see proof first then you only save what, $5 that is not worth risk of $50 for me sorry

I really want to get the season pass....

I am worried Trion wont deliver tho, and that makes me hesitant. They have gone back on their word multiple times now, and the lies just don't seem to stop.

I was curious if its the norm for a game to do that, or if its just a likelihood from defiance.....

I can see them never adding a new multiplayer map, or keeping the arenas SP, or any other horrible lie they might do.....

DLC is 100% a buy for me...just debating if I should just get season pass....

So, let's get this straight. You repeatedly spent real money for some things you never had to spend real money on and repeatedly didn't get rare items or ultra rare items and that's Trion's fault because they forced you to do this. Now, I can agree that it might be nice to have better chances to get some rare things, but the case can be made that they're rare so they shouldn't be easy to get. But, I'd also say that if you spent that much money on a total optional thing and kept seeing that you weren't getting what you wanted, that's your fault. I've bought a few lockboxes but saved my real money mostly for inventory slots and a few store items that I thought would be fun. I'd never spend a lot of money on something that gave me a chance to get some rare or ultra rare items. Your money but you have no one to blame but yourself since you're trying to blame them. Seriously after like 5 boxes, why didn't you stop?

And keep in mind the only thing you ever needed to play this game was the initial outlay of cash for the game itself. Everything else is completely optional and your choice. No one twisted your arm. I think it's great if you can do that and nice to do it to show support, but it is still optional.

Understand that I've gotten a few legendaries from boxes, won some in clan contests, and still don't have a lot but I've maybe spent $10 on boxes (if that) and gotten hundreds of them by earning keycodes or buying them with salvage. And no legendary is worth $400 of real money. Some aren't even as good as some of the blues and purples I have.

Well here's the thing. Almost all DLC for games and even games get delayed to some extent. Some have even been scrapped or the company attempted to scrap them-take the case of DLC for Skyrim for the PS3. Bethesda kept hyping the DLC, not specifically saying they'd have it for the PS3, and due to agreements with MS released it for xbox. Then, at some point they started to back track on any idea they'd have DLC for the PS3. They finally announced they couldn't do it. All sorts of claims ensued and fan outrage as well. Bethesda all along had never really learned to program that well for the PS3. Sony offered them some help and the DLC was created but if Sony had not intervened, it wouldn't have happened. And part of why they did is because Bethesda devs started to malign the PS3 simply because they weren't able to program well for it. They weren't ever using all of the memory capabilities the machine has. You could go as far back as Oblivion to see just how bad they were at programming for it-that bricked many PS3s. And Fallout 3's DLC was almost unplayable.

This isn't an xbox vs ps3 thing-I have them both, like them both ok-it's just that there were issues over Skyrim's DLC as well, but most really don't know about it. And the way Bethesda handled it and all the previous games they'd created (with the horrible flaws in them-but games I really like) show a certain disdain for at least one group of fans and an inability to be really honest.

You're talking about lies, specifically but the thing is I've seen lies from game devs before and I don't see that here. You might but part of that is how you understand what a company said. Or how I do. I know Bioware lied to fans in order to guarantee pre-sales. And they lied often, hyped a game far more than any hype I've ever seen here. The Better Business Bureau said they did. They lied on video, lied in interviews, and it became clear they couldn't stop lying. Now that kind of thing gets to me. A delay in DLC? So what. Nerfed guns. I don't care. A turret on a vehicle that has yet to be released that will not have a turret. Big deal.

I also look at other games that charge far more for content that is basically just map packs, some of which have been created for previous games or that are maps that are right out of the SP game. Those are cheap and easy to create and they charge $15 for each pack, $50 I think for the Season Pass (and they call it Season Pass).

Bought the season pass at launch, it's not as if I'm going to not play the DLC regardless of the release date changing. If I was paying a sub fee I probably would have waited to buy it. Plenty of other games for me to play if I want something different in between releases of DLC. Plus those real-life responsibilities I keep shirking off.... But that sounds super boring, I've got final phase beta of another game to distract myself with til the 20th!

I will have fun walking!! And while I'm at it, I'll buy a sail boat and then proceed to lose my sh!t afterwards because there isn't any place for me to sail it in Oklahoma.

At the risk of KNOWINGLY stirring up a console vs PC fight, I charge ahead. AFAIK, that town worked fine on PCs. Just like I don't have issues at Arkfalls but the folks with very limited rendering systems do. That would be true of low end PCs and today's consoles. Maybe we can get the town back for the next gen consoles?
