    New story line

So I have been playing for a month now and already beat the game, in the first 2 weeks. I still find the game addictive but... when are we going to get a new story line? I mean we are confined and the map is small. Also this game is about Defiance and so far I have not seen Defiance in the game, I mean Defiance as in the city from the Tv show. So I only have that for now Thank you for your replies!

According to sources, we're not likely to actually see Defiance the town in the game. The game and show are separate with only very loose ties.

As for the map opening up, probably not likely to happen until season 2 of the show starts.

    More missions?

I wouldn't hold your breath but hopefully as more dlc comes out.

Sources? I know the understanding is the town of Defiance and the tv show are only slightly related to the game, but I think that's due to some possible misunderstanding of what was said about only so much of the game having to be tied to the tv show. That doesn't mean that's the view of everyone working on the game or even those in charge of it all.

As for story content-a lot of people have been requesting a more substantial story line. The problem with that is that this is a shooter with some rpg elements but it may not have ever been meant to be really story heavy. They have every opportunity to change that if enough players want it and they think it's important. So, who knows? If people want it-the devs might work more story into it and they might do more to relate it to the tv show.

But there's only so much they might be able to do. Given that many of the actors on the show are probably more expensive to use in video games (not that they're superstars but some are pretty busy on other projects), it just might be too much to spend to really add a lot of tv show stuff to the game. Might have been better had they used more unknown cast members. The woman who plays Stahma has recently been on all kinds of shows for instance.

Devs did say that the map would be expanded but I've never seen anything as to when. They said not for DLC #1 (the first DLC to drop), but as far as I know they never said not until season two of the show or the like.

I think they might be trying to stagger things as far as additional stuff goes. Maybe the new areas will open up along with additional story missions. But as far as I know only the devs really know the plan for this and they may be taking into consideration what we want since the first DLC is to have a number of things we requested.

And people that have gone to most of the accessible areas outside of the map have said they do seem to be adding content (buildings, spawn points, ammo boxes, and so on) to the blocked off portions. I can't confirm this because I haven't seen those things, other than additional vegetation in the areas I've gotten to.

I'm sure the game is called Defiance because it is the same theme as the show and also has tie-ins with it. I suppose they could have called it San Francisco but it doesn't sound as nice.

From what I have read, there is a small amount of new storyline content coming on the 20th with the release of the first DLC. Apparently though it is not exactly as much content as people were expecting.

A slight correction to the OP in the statement that he has "beaten the game." You haven't. You may have beaten the current available storyline, but I have serious doubts that you are sitting at 5000 EGO with all the pursuits/goals done and all rep maxed with Echelon, etc. I understand what you meant, but there is a ton of game left after Nim is killed.

The game and the show have a few similarities. It's good for the show, but bad for the game. I hope that the developers realize it as soon as possible.

Judging by the reviews, DLC does not have the normal storyline, as we were promised in the beginning. This is only a side-missions for admission to the arena. Would like to see in the next DLC that was rectified and the players would get access to the full storyline.

Yeah that's my understanding of it too-from what I had read before.

Though with the alpha, testers have said they saw no new mission content (story) from what I've read and said that all the content to be released was in the alpha. I don't know it for a fact.

And as to finishing the game-even finishing out pursuits and all might only be the tip of the iceberg as far as what you want to call finished. Makes more sense than that you get to the end of the current story content and think it's done, but having taken a look at what Charge weapons will cost, grinding or just arkfall spamming for loot, scrip, salvage, and keycodes might be something everyone is doing right now. That and any other thing they can do for max scrip. One weapon with Castithan (can't remember its name) faction rep was listed as 500k in scrip. People had to ask what use scrip was in the game.

I think in order to do any sort of major tie in with the tv show, they would likely have to use some more unknown characters (and actors) and a lot of people would complain about that.

The tv show I think is good because in part the actors in it are really good. They aren't as I said superstars but they are fairly busy on other projects which means if they use them in things, then they have to pay them accordingly and work around their schedules for VOs and 3D modeling. Sure they could do it, but people now are complaining about paying $10 for the DLC.

And it would also be a problem for the show since some watch the show and don't play the game. And it would be a problem for the game, because some people play the game and don't watch the show. If you create tie in content in one thing that someone does not see then you'll make them mad because they'll figure they have to do something they don't want to in order to enjoy the thing they do like.

I mean, someone watching the show would be mad if they missed out on story stuff put in the game and vice versa. If you play the game and don't watch the show and all of a sudden they continue a story from the show in it, then you won't quite understand what's going on and might have to find a way to watch it even if you don't want to and it would make you mad if you can't. But a lot of people have had trouble doing so-not in the US so much or maybe other countries in NA, but in other countries.

This is all opinionated stuff that I believe (to the best of my knowledge) that I remember hearing places. Other peeps can dig through the 'nets for the actual links/videos/etc. as I haven't the time nor the energy, so take it as you will.

The game is called Defiance because the battle of Defiance happened in the San Francisco area, which is around the area the game takes place. The show is called Defiance because the town in which the show takes place in, is directly named in honor of the battle of Defiance, which happened in San Fran, which is the game area. Nolan took part in the battle of Defiance and currently resides in the town of Defiance.

The people in charge of the TV show/game have stated before that they are trying to keep the two "worlds" separated so that if one of the medias becomes cancelled, the other can still flourish.

There are still tie-ins, however. They are (typically) small and slight. The game, again, takes place in the San Fran area and the show takes place in St. Louis. I mean, really, how often are characters from the show going to show up in both places. When you think about the tie-in stuff they have done already (some oddities aside), it's actually been pretty good for being believable, considering there are still so many other places in North America (and especially South America now) that they can go.

We are also supposed to be seeing content before Season 2 of the show to help tie in things that have happened since Season 1. What this mean...? Who knows.

So, ultimately, Defiance show and Defiance game are closely related, name wise (battle) and world wise (all terraformed because of some damnable aliens). Apart from some small tie-ins, that's probably the most we will see, relating wise. Just my 50 cents (inflation).
