The game is driven by a main story line that while easier with a friend or friends it is something you can general solo. However there is Co-Op instances, PvP, and most likely a clan/guild driven community sprouting up already around the title. Also this game is unlike anything done to date as content will be driven by the Show that is linked to the game and the way they are doing missions and dynamic content is wholly different than almost any other MMO to date.
Also all the offical game trailers are most likely done on PC and generated from cut-scenes or events at various stages, but everything you see there is in the game. Note in the play through he was trying to show off the game and not really focusing on any social aspects.
This very by region and of course demographic, I could mention Destiny and no one would no what I was talking about. Sometimes word of mouth is slower in some parts. As for lack of hype, I'm okay with a lack of hype cause what I am seeing is a growing loyal community that makes a strong foundation for a title to thrive on, not just smoke and mirrors from an Ad agency.
Voice chat is enabled in the game, however depending on your platform you may experience varying degrees of quality. Any MMO with something that require tactical coordination will most like grow it's own method of communication. Shooting and text typing just aren't a good mix. As for CoD minded players those are everywhere you won't out run them.
As a Beta and Alpha player I can assure you with the open world and unlimited potential, this game is completely worth $60.
