i know for pc that deficaince has been on the #10 list on most sold games on steam for a looonnnggg time. the reason im wondering is because i want to know how big the fan bases are and if xbox will have a lot of people playing on because my friend is forcing me to play it on that.
Well, at the beginning of the Xbox beta, many people were online, walking around and raiding Arkfalls. Later, on the last few days of the beta, many people stopped playing. Judging by forum posts alone, it would seem the Xbox 360 version is the most popular, with PC coming in 2nd and PS3 coming in third.

Now given that #1 not everyone is gonna preorder, and #2 not everyone is going to pick up their preorder annnnd #3 I dunno if that includes Steam cause they just unlocked phase 3 for preorders. I dunno if ANY of those numbers are remotely close to correct and if it's only basing it on the 50 states and not including Canada.
Not even sure if this includes outside of EB Games shrug I dunno I could have failed you all. :P

Unfortunately those statistics are misleading. As an XBox player, I can tell you that during the Beta the XBox forum was an absolute mess. For the first 3 days of the Beta, every time I checked the forum, literally every thread had 0 replies, and often 1 view. With very few exceptions, every person just made made a thread for each question they had without ever looking at/replying to other threads first. So I can assure you the thread count for XBox is inflated compared especially to the PC section where people are familiar with forums.
VGChartz IS a good source of info BUT... It doesn't tell the whole story by far. They only count RETAIL store pre-orders in the US. So, no online orders get counted (can you say Steam... Amazon) and nothing from outside the US.

While they may be the only site putting out preorder numbers it doesn't make them reliable - probably some caveat that it only counts physical copies bought in certain retailers in certain regions.
For instance Steam is notorious for never releasing actual sales figures, while rival DD sites equally don't want to reveal their stats to show others how well / badly they are doing.
We could see if Trion put up any figures about how many people tried the beta, or how many people try to connect on the first day the servers are live. They will eventually have to make a press release about how many are playing to satisfy their shareholders as well as the people making decisions about the TV show and ultimately whether it gets a second season and more funding for work on the game.
Xbox will have a healthy community it's a console shooters paradise. I've been waiting a lifetime for a console mmo and so have many others. The sheer thought of just popping in a disc and playing is epic. No need to update drivers, settings, hardware, etc. You will have plenty of people to play with.
