This is as much an "mmo" as borderlands is, basically 4 player co-op and a normal campaign that's rather short, once complete there's no draw to keep playing till the next paid dlc comes out. Shame really coz they missed the boat on what a mmo really is.

I wanna follow all my mates together and play somewhere together pve, not be stuck in a small party of 4.

Plus the EU and US servers are not linked so you can't play on Xbox with your US friends, as stated in their interview on DefianceCentralTV.

Yes, Defiance is a MMO. Small group sizes for instanced dungeons are a MMO standard with the exception of raids. Raids, for now, are Ark Falls. Everyone can contribute, party or not. The fact that you're playing with a vast number of real people at the same time qualifies Defiance as a MMO. If you want an example of an "online" game that isn't a MMO but has very limited MMO like features than look at Guild Wars 1. If you wanted to explore the world and quest with other people then you had to party up with them IN TOWN before venturing out because when you left town the whole world was instanced. Only the cities allowed players to interact with one another.

Now, you have no idea how long the story side is. Beta was only a tiny fraction. Not to mention all the repeatable missions, side missions, races, dungeons. DLC is already planned and Trion is known for pushing out new content very often. I really fail to see where you're getting any of this from.

There's no monthly sub so enjoy your play-time. Don't rush through to "the end" and then complain about a lack of things to do. No MMO has ever had a plethora of content for end-game at launch. Some end-game, yes, but not what I feel like you're expecting. That said, have fun!
