Pre-loading via Steam

This is a question that answers have not been provided for. According to Sledgehammer (One of Defiance's Community Managers) they have made an effort to contact Steam to allow pre-loading but as of now there has been no action taken and judging by past experiences and the time left for them to take a course of action this option may not be available on time.

The best thing I can recommend is to follow my guide for pre-loading inside the steam folders so once Steam gets everything working as intended the files will be ready to go.

No, you have no need for concern about these issues. All Steam will do is link up with the Patcher.exe to bring up the launcher which will link up with the game files in the Live folder. It's not connecting your steam account to your trion account in any way, shape, or form.
