There's a reason why there are level/gear level/whatever restrictions on various things in other games. I remember having pugs that varied from 20 minutes to 2 hours in places like Zul Aman (or whatever it was called) in WoW, and that was just due to the actually existing cap not being a good enough filter. Here you have no filter.

On a final note, people think Defiance doesn't have a learning curce. They think that because they can finish anything in the game, the game isn't hard enough. The logic is about the same as saying that because you can move your body 100 meters, being a olympic sprinter isn't hard.

What games are you talking about? Maybe some other MMOs or something, but I have yet to play a game where all levels weren't thrown together and some with some real "soul killing" possibilities. But games that do this often do try to mitigate the effects of doing so. Halo drops in advanced weapons that if a new player is lucky they can run to and use. CoD games create advanced loadouts for new players.

Trion didn't make this to be a hardcore game for various reasons. The show created some interest and was likely to bring in more casual players. And making this game feature some sort of tiered play would have segregated players from each other in a way that I doubt many would have been happy with. I hate that idea. This way it gives players the ability to help others out. But it does also provide challenges for some more advanced players-in most games it's the same thing. You reach a point where challenges are easy enough, then you have to provide your own challenges. In other games, you can sit and shut off all brain activity while randomly shooting your sniper range shotgun and ruling PvP. In this one, you have probably thousands of combinations you can try out to create different builds and challenge yourself.

Newbies don't ruin gameplay and that's a horrid thing to say, even if you're pointing the blame at Trion. I've never yet played a game where people weren't blaming newbs for something. And yet, it's often the veterans that find and use one specific build to rule all that ends up ruining gameplay. It creates stagnation. In Black Ops2, it's often the "hide behind the shield and trophy system" camping setup or the run and gun sniper, that ends up making people rage quit and stop playing.

The correct attitude is to educate newer players on just what they're doing and how it affects others-BMGs cause lag. But guess what, it's veteran players that have been suggesting everyone use them for ark hopping.

I wouldn't want this game to have a veteran/newb filter. It may be that many won't agree with me, but this is one game that with the minimal roleplaying specifically points to new and more experienced work together. The fault is with players not willing to often do so. Just try asking someone to not use the Titan at arkfalls and explaining why-see how cooperative they are.

Yes Indra, I believe someone else mentioned taking note of extraction points and trying to find Volge near them to practice on for the close respawn. Thanks for reminding me!

I think I'll concentrate on unlocking the overcharge, and related skills, and work on a weapon. Maybe I'll be ready to take some on, (shuddering a little bit), by time the w/e hits.

As far as what you said about vets helping newbies, I was surprised at how few people communicate in this game. I usually have area chat on and rarely hear anyone. A few times I did have to turn it off because someone was yelling at their kids, or else there was bad noise from someones mic.

At least we do have the forums, and I did get some very useful info and constructive criticism from vets here. So again, thanks to all of you for taking the time to respond.

Maybe one day, I can go in singing the Mighty Mouse song, " Here I come to save the day!..." and actually do it. LOL.

You are not alone, I completely agree with all points made here...

It is quite possibly the least social MMO i've ever played. If I were playing on the Xbox I would be glad tho, because the amount of people who think it is a good idea to use their Kinect as a mic while playing loud music AND having their TV's set to max, is mindblowing.

I can't even remember the last time my Kinect was plugged in, let alone the last time I actually used it...

Those you are referring to there are not skilled or veteran players, they're an itch on your nose at best. What makes people rage quit is people who know how to play, know the spawns, trap and decimate the opponent. Sure they'll rock a shield and sniper just for giggles, in the end 90% of people ragequitting is because of people spawntrapping. And i'm not sorry I do it.

This weekend, several times, I clipped a few with my car, and exploded, forcing me to fight. So many players passed by in the few minutes that I attempted to fight them alone.

Each time, I ended up extracting or fast traveling. "Thanks!", to those of you who revived me
when I got there. LOL- embarrassing.

Keep in mind that I only play for prolonged times on the weekend. Is it that most of the players that passed by were just selfish kids laughing at my pain?

Do people not help random players anymore?

    I play on XBOX btw.
i think they just pass by and avoid them because everybody is bussy doing something else xD ,try getting a group of friends to play along all the time and enter co-op together hunt some arkfalls or pickup on the volges whenever a member of the group pass by any emergency etc

If I see Volge, I usually stop to fight them. If I see another person, I will stop to help out. I know they get stronger, but I am able to solo them. Since the Volge were released, I've used SAWs to take them down, combined with overcharge. If I'm soloing, I don't mind if somebody stops. Unless I'm down and somebody stops, kills whatever is left and leaves me there (happens quite a bit)
