Why do i have to patch every time i play?

I would send a ticket to Trion in-game and ask them or you could have a corrupted file somewhere.

Is it actually patching? Or is it the patch screen that checks the patches? Or do you only play once a month?

I think hes referring to waiting not even 1 minute when it says its patching. What it's really doing is veryfying your patched contents to make sure you didn't tamper with it and if there is a new patch and you don't have it, it will force you to download it.
