Though I'd be more than happy to see Defiance with DX11 graphics and animations on par with graphics - instead of outdated DX9 version for 6 year old consoles.

Eh, I mean I'm all for upping the graphics, but it's certainly not needed! I am assuming you mean you would like to see it on PS4 with that eventually, and not like upset it's being released on todays consoles.

I mean I still play a VERY old 2d spaceship game called Continuum it's like multiplayer asteroids. The flag games can get rather intense! Looks like an iPad game tho hahaha

Think how long the PS2 lasted and how many continued to play that and how long it took for some to switch over to the PS3. I'm sure some will get the newer systems on launch but a lot may not and besides we have a ways to go anyway

im a console gamer with both systems. i really dont play the ps3 nor do i plan on getting a ps4. i prefer the xbox and will wait for that. the ps4 is comming at the end of this year, the next gen xbox hasnt been announced yet. so thats 8 months atleast until the ps4 is out. is the op really thinking new games wont come out in that time period? even when the new consoles come out its not like the ps3 and 360 are gonna magically disappear. it will take months for a big population to play them because of pricing/waiting on bug fixes. op has no clue what he is talking about imo

I am kind of sad they stopped production of the PS2. Sad 'cause everyone had some good times with the PS2! If not just the old funny commercials haha Sony used to be hilarious with their Ratchet & Clank commercials alone!

Next gen consols are going to crash and burn. They won't sell anywhere near enough. They have too many bad designs implemented into them (like stuff to screw over resellers) and they are 5 years too early. Why pay 600 dollars for something with 0 backwards compatibility and with a library of between 5 and 10 games?

I've yet to upgrade from PS2 to PS3! Decided to stick with one console when this generation came out and even if i do the the neXtbox soon after release, the 360 will most certainly still be used especially if the next gen doesn't have decent backwards compatibility, if any!

I perfectly know damn well what I'm talking about but unlike alot of you I'm thinking about reality. True gamers will be moving on to next-gen. I never said anything about PS3 and 360 are gonna be gone quick. I know it took a few years for PS2 games to finally stop being made when PS3 came out. As much as people are saying yes I will still play it or yes I'm playing my PS3 and this game forever, need to snap to reality and how things work. The line up thats still to come in games like GTA V, Last of Us, Injustice:GAU, Metro,Saints Row 4,etc. will all pull gamers away because its the next game that players will play. Its known fact that the % of players of an MMO game of any kind to come back to a previous game(specially if a game has kinks at the start when it goes live) will not come back to it. I'm not saying next gen will only be the reason, it will be a huge chunk though, I dont see the game lasting on consoles in popularity as it will be at the start come tuesday. I'm saying the combination of it all will cause players not to want to continue playing to where by this time next year. I highly doubt 25% of the players will remain on consoles.

both the 720 and the PS4 have zero backwards compatibility. The 720 has the excuse of switching to blu ray, the PS4 is Sony being ****s.

And the fact that people are in this thread and don't know about the 720 which is also coming out at the end of this year (or very early next year) just reinforces my theory that next gen is going to crash and burn :S

edit: As far as I can tell, only people intending to buy the next gen consols are the truly hard core fans with LOTS of disposable cash. PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD TO DROP SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS ON A NEW SYSTEM IN THIS ECONOMY.

Except for the whole thing where the next gen consols have barely anybody who knows about them, and amongst those who I've spoken too (and it's a fairly wide audience at that, thank you research projects) people aren't intending to buy them because of their tiny libraries, lack of backwards compatibility, and all of the various "anti piracy" measures stuck into them to screw with the user's ability to resell used games, not to mention insanity such as making the Kinect 2 required for the 720 to operate.

hehe, as long as they don't forget us and continue the support like with the PS2 and original Xbox! If they pull some shady crap like turning off Live and PSN services after a year into the new consoles, grr!
