im not going to argue that the meaning of words don't change because they do. that's how language evolves, however saying that your meaning is the modern use and that a lot of people use the term this way i find odd as i am 22 have played video games since i was 5-7 and have many friends with the same long gaming history who are very ingrained with it's culture. You are the very first person i have EVER seen use the word in this context.
I normally wouldn't say anything and only actually read this far to see where the debate was going, but you constant denial of facts and accusing everyone of being trolls is wrong and i had to say something as i dont think you are being fair or correct. Before you accuse me of trolling or anything else i will back up my argument with several points.
1. the original few posts seem to be friendly posts to inform you that you have had a misunderstanding and tried to correct you.
2. For the meaning of a word to change throughout an entire community (take the Easter egg and the gamer community as an example) the word has to have been used with the new meaning by a large majority of said community and by looking at the posts arguing both sides and discounting repeat posts by the same people, this is not the case by a long way. so the words meaning should not be under debate as it has not changed for the last few decades.
3. You also don't seem to understand the meaning of the word troll, by my understanding (and im sure many of the forum members will agree) a troll is someone who will annoy, insult, badger, bully, shout and just generally be unpleasant or annoying towards other users. I am not saying that you are a troll but by reading through all the posts in this thread those posted by you seem to be the most troll like.
Now can we please get back to finding hidden things, by which i mean easter eggs and NOT collectables like the audio logs.
D.F.T.B.A
I must also say that I have never heard the term easter eggs to be used in the context that you are talking about. As said by many other people on this thread, an easter egg is not a collectable that is part of the game in that it does not affect the game's completion. An easter egg is something that is normally a reference to something outside of the game itself, it can be a quote or a picture of something within pop culture or current events, or it could be something completely random such as a hidden wall that gives a nonsense mathematical equation.
As far as the ark codes found in the both the videos and within the game itself, those are might be considered easter eggs I am not quite sure about them though. This is not meant to be a "Troll" post, I am merely just stating how I see the term "easter egg".
i think i found what a guy earlier mentioned about the world trade centre...
if you travel to the southeast corner of san francisco there is a three pronged island head right to the edge of it and look south.. there is a building semi- submerged in the ocean with the top corner blown out that looks similar to the world trade centre.
it might just be a coincidence or not...![]()

^Agree.
People make up definitions left, right & centre.
Someone disagrees with you? They're a troll. Don't want any form of cash shop, even if it's not selling power? Claim it's pay 2 win. Someone has a higher score than you? Insist they're a hacker ("It's impossible to get that score!" - seen in multiple threads already) Someone is higher level than you? No lifer. Lower level? Casual. Suggesting a feature you don't agree with? WoW / Cod kiddie (delete depending on feature).
Find something in a game, it's an easter egg. Hell, I could apply that logic to anything in the game. A single blade of grass is hard to find when it's in a field, by the logic some people are using that alone would be enough to make each blade of grass an easter egg.
