We've been seeing an uptick in thread titles that are quite vague, so in an effort to try and make the entire forum a bit more informative at a glance, we are putting the kibosh on uninformative thread titles.

If you guys remain respectful and on topic in this thread, you can discuss this new moderation rule. I'll close this topic after a couple days.

Uninformative Thread Titles: When creating a new thread, please be sure that its title is descriptive and that it accurately conveys the point of the thread. Creating topics that are vague such as "thanks!" or "can you believe this" will be closed.

would make more sense to fix your game instead of worrying about a cluttered forum... glad to see u have your priorities in order.
maybe u should petition to have the censoring taken away. it's a mature game anyway. an * doesn't properly convey my frustration or many others i'm willing to bet

That's what caused me to think this up. There were a lot of good threads that I couldn't parse easily because the thread titles didn't tell me what was inside of them. I figure a lot of you guys feel the same - you glance at the front page and you aren't sure what conversation you'll be joining since the titles aren't that descriptive.

Please note: this isn't changing the contents of your posts. It's just asking you to be a bit more thoughtful in your thread titles.

I'm 100% in agreement with Dahanese on this. Thread titles that tell us what the thread is about are extremely useful to point us to a discussion that we would like to participate in.

I've started many threads on this forum. Some have been quite critical of Trion and Defiance, some have been supportive. I do try to set a title that describes the thread.

As someone who's been a forum moderator before, I can tell you this from experience: While the initial knee jerk reaction to this type of rule in the CoC is one of shock or backlash, the reality is having threads that actually HAVE a title is a lot better than one that doesn't. THis helps moderators know what's in the thread before they start reading it. It does NOT mean that mod's or "Director of Community" get to start ignoring threads, they still have to pour over them and make sure the CoC is being followed in each post.

Knowing what your getting into with a post is a bit nicer for them than having the "Whoa.. here's a thread marked "Thanks Trion!" that just slapped us all across the face!".

Just remember Ms. Dahanese.. This is America.. sure.. we can play nice and keep the labels up to make your day easier, but watch that slope your on. Not only is the removal of free speech against our great Constitution (even on private property, digital or physical.. for all you internet sea lawyers out there) but your moderators already, and quite liberally I may add, dole out punishments in a very haphazard and disorganized fashion. Let's make sure that as you make rapid and unforeseen changes to the CoC that those people who must dispense the warnings, are doing so fairly and within sound judgement. From what I've seen, they have no clue what fair and sound judgement is, so giving them more rules to enforce probably isn't the best idea.

I'll play nice and make sure my posts adhere to this ruling, that's my part. Perhaps it will encourage someone to do their's and actually provide some guidance to moderators on enforcing the CoC with some sound judgement. From what I've seen in the last week.. I won't be holding my breath.

I would like to point out, however, that this ISN'T America. It's the world. Trion is an American company, yes, but the forum members come from all over the world. I'm quite willing to comply with Trion's rules AND The laws of the USA whilst on this forum but... please keep in mind that you aren't JUST discussing with your fellow Americans here.

This is just a friendly suggestion......
How about.....

A.) Finding out what is actually going on (like Ps3 servers still having issues beyond the DLC)
B.) Posting it to an official thread
C.) Ignoring the rest of the crap on the forums until the issues are resolved.

Answers go a lot longer then new rules to the coc and posts in threads that are vague and misleading.

And I apologize in advance, I am sure you are having an very ****ty couple of days. I wouldn't want to be in anyone at Trion's shoes, but tensions are running very high on this side of the fence too, and it's just going downhill fast

Convenient. I imagine this is in response to all of the inflammatory threads being directed at you guys for your complete lack of informative customer service. Yeah, you better get rid of some of those. Who knows, there might even be some posts left about the actual game. Probably not.

well my first look into this game and the dev's and PR people seem more like the home owners association glad this isnt a pay to play game. all in all ive found the game enjoyable but the server issues suck.
