Chat is still a joke

I honestly fail to understand anyone using a text chat system in any game in 2013. The only reason to use it would be to spam, troll, advertise your clan, or otherwise be a dbag in zone chat. For literally every other thing people use voice chat. And not the crappy in-game voice of literally every game out there, they go and download a free TeamSpeak or Ventrilo server and use that. So I fail to see how this is such an issue.

Because I hate voice chat.

Visit an RP/social event in any other MMO and you'll see how much use people get out of chat text. Trion has basically shut social and roleplayers out of their game with this crappy chat system.

You can chat....or you can play the game...but you cant do both at the same time.......how fun!

I just started playing this game Monday. I love it...but the social aspect sucks horribly...especially when I NEED to communicate with my team members in a Co-Op, or trying to join a clan...or even simple thing like saying Hello.

So I tried to setup the voice chat...I talk but I can't even tell if anyone can hear me or not, I heard someone once during a Volge invasion thingy...but their voice was so low plus with no way to adjust other play voices...

This game is fun but to me it just needs a huge change to both the UI and the Social aspects.

In every MMO game the ingame VoIP system sucks wich is actually normal but cba to get into details, best to use a program like Ventrillo, Teamspeak or Mumble. The best way to find a clan is to look on this forum or maybe some fan sites.

Trust us. Turn off all in game voice chat features. Join a large guild that has its own Voip (Check the guild recruitment forums for pc).

Just understand this is the second iteration of the chat system and it got worse instead of improved really. Dont hold out much expectations or hope for the better in these (or other) regards.

Another reason I prefer text to voice is its a little quieter for the rest of household. Also went i rant, as is us nerds want, no one understands my 'wegie accent ( Glaswegian) though I am thinking of using voice chat at times when I can but enabling the voice changing ability of my soundcard....Glaswegian Darth Vader anyone?



Chat grew on me yesterday. I set fade to max and the window stayed there without the frames and let me see what was happening. Of course helps with a bigger screen I spose.

You would think, since its not a huge leap, that since these developers around the world all claim to be gamers...that one day one of them will contact TS or mumble etc and say "hey, make an ingame module for us" would help a lot.
