This one just seems to take too long. As soon as the Monolith takes a little bit of damage it disappears for couple of minutes. Even if we wipe the area clean of bad guys the thing still waits to come back. It's almost a similar pattern as the other ark falls but this is way worse for how many times it disappears and how long it takes to bring it back.

It doesn't really disappear. It flies upward and hovers overhead, raining death from above (thus the large red circles that appear on the ground just before people who don't know to don't stand in the fire get tossed around and killed).

I havnt had the pleasure of doing a Major arkfall yet, although I've watched people at the minors stand around like idiots because they don't know what to do. At least kill the enemies. Then those that do know what they're doing will have an easier time. =\

    Y'all whine too much.

I'm hoping they make it harder. I think the monolith should also shoot like the one guarding san diego

I can almost guarantee you they won't make it harder. The game is obviously a casual game, just like most MMOs of the past 8 years.

Just pray they don't swing the Nerf bat on it down the line.

I can't imagine why they would. I've done the Monolith several times now and I've yet to see it come even remotely close to failure or see many deaths.

It would be nice if more Darkfall showed up to provide ammo pinatas.

My answer is simple: because, unfortunately, what they've done in Defiance to date hasn't made much sense.

No, I don't see a reason to Nerf it, either.

True. But what's really shocking is watching other people stand around in the Monolith's "blast path". Me? I just run to the point where I'm almost directly underneath where it hovers, so I can't get blasted as easily.

I don't pay any attention to it one way or the other, so nah, no irritations here. Except I do get frustrated when I can't tell players from dark matter because everyone's green.

There's more to it than just waiting for the right time to activate the boost. Leave it at the ready and the dark matter mobs will try to use it as well, and you really don't want that. Besides, the boost is too short and the type random, so it doesn't give a consistent, nor substantial boost in overall DPS. Concentrate on shot placement and positioning instead. It will spare you the ulcer. In any case, people will never learn, and some will activate the boost out of spite if you start yelling at them. Trion had to make the weak points appear on crystals without skitterlings because numbnuts were still killing them.

And yes, the monolith arkfall feels like it's too damn long. It's due to the pacing. Dark matter reinforcements need to drop way more often, and the flying segment needs to be shorter and the bombardment more intense. Throw in elite bulwarks and we're getting a bit more for our money. Some actual ground movement on the monolith's part would be welcome too. Not just the hopping and flying around.
