Just got reply from support, if you ordered physical copy you will not be able to patch or play until you have the box in your hand. So you get to wait 13 hours after the servers go live, then spend more time waiting to install/patch; good luck getting a name you like.
First time I've encountered this problem in order a decade of online games. I'll be picking up Bioshock instead of Defiance tomorrow.
I got in touch with G2Play and they asked me to send them a screen shot of my desktop with the error on screen as well as my order number and the key that was sent to me. I sent them this information and they replied saying that they have been in contact with their supplier and that they should be receiving the necessary keys tomorrow. They intend to send them to their customers as soon as they receive them.
