    steam reward rift???

Whats happens when you receive rift as the reward for defiance. Obviously you get the game free and don't have to purchase it, but is there any point in it if its pay-to-play? or is it free to play if you have received the game free :/. Or is it one of those pointless rewards if you don't pay to play rift.

I will keep it short, since you look easily confuse.

When I went to add my free RIFT: Storm Legion to my RIFT account it said I had to re-sub for at least a month before I could even link Storm Legion to my old RIFT account. Since I'm gonna try to focus on Defiance I didn't want to pay for another month of any game just yet... so I'm saving my code for a later date.

If you don't have rift at all you get a free month of game time and the expansion to the game. It should be fairly obvious that you will have to pay the subscription fee if you want to keep playing the game.

It doesn't include a free month if you already had a subscription?

i think i read someone stating that the steam offer for rift was original + storm legion. The original rift come with a 1 month free time after that you have to sub.

Maybe you need to sub first in order to activate the first free month? and only after that free month your sub start to kick in.

    just a thought

Hope that's not how it works. In other sub games I've had, DLC content includes a month. Ah well.

I applied the code for this to my Trion account this morning, so I can hopefully shed some light.

I had already owned the CE of RIFT (Steam pre-order back before it launched.). So I grabbed the Storm Legion key from Steam, and applied it to my Trion account. They said I'd need to choose a subscription plan to even apply the code to my account, and I had already been interested in the housing they added with the expansion so I went and checked off the "One Month Recurring" option. ($14.99) At the checkout screen it showed my total as $0.00, and my receipt showed $0.00.

I checked my subscription to RIFT, and it said I have 30 days remaining, and I will be billed $14.99 at the next cycle. Checked bank account, no charge.

tl;dr - Seems I got a free month of RIFT even WITH an existing RIFT account.

ok, so it's just setting you up for the next month of billing, that works.
