Used a VBI sawed off quad barrel (purple) that unloaded both double barrels in two rapid shots. Solid shot but still multiple mob hits if they were close together (blow thru ?). Had to keep on the move though for that 1.8 second reload. Really good ammo control and this thing was deadly if 'in the face' or stuck between the shoulder blades.

For the not so hard to kill I also used a combat shotgun that had a nice loadout and more of a medium range. I think it had 12 shots before reload and could stay back a little more, anyway you could tap a lot before running off into a reload circle

That healer weapon is a BMG. Left was offensive zapper and right was heal. I had 2 before game end and kept the first. It did slightly less healing but it hopped to multiple targets. The better heal one was a single target. Brought it out once in awhile to try and stop people from falling down when we were getting Bowling Balled or Grenaded by the critters.

I didn't get to play with them much but ended up with like 4 orange & 4 purple ones from tier 4 lockboxes... they felt very underwhelming but it could have been those particular guns. I definitely like the automatic/combat shotgun over the double barrel though.
Don't be insulted because i don't wanna explain myself, i was probably joking anyway.

I found the shot guns to have the most ammo and the longest sustain ability meaning that you wouldn't have to go looking for ammo ever 3 minutes like the missile launchers or Light machineguns

I agree combat shotguns were efficient in terms of shots to kill. I liked mine with a relatively quick drum reload, putting out slugs. Devastation.

I think there were very effective. I bought a tier 4 dropbox, in fact I bought many(!), and found an Orange one. Massive damage but to me they just sounded weak. But anything outside of a mini-boss was dead with one shot close up.

stealth + shotgun is pretty OP if you can manage to get crit hit

the VBI TACC shotgun is fully auto, does decent damage and it's clip can be expanded to at least 25 rounds. If you hate reloading and like to be up close and personal w/ mobs, this is the gun for you.

I had alot of success in PvP with the VBI shotgun. It was a longer range gun but when zoomed down the sight, the spread on the gun was great. At about 20 yards it will put every pellet in the width of a characters torso, two hits no problem, magazine capacity sucked though.

The shottys in PVP are amazing.
Sneak up on people with stealth and use the sawed off shotty for massive dmg, if it doesnt one shot, switch to another weapon, and boom dead. Its great for sneakin up on people and surprising. however if you cant get close enough to use it youll be shredded.
all weapons work well in pve

They reminded me a bit of the shotguns in Gears 2. The range on them is pretty far considering it is a CQB weapon. I did notice the drop-off dmg on it is significant after about 50 ft. though. There are three types to choose from with different almost sub types.

Auto shotgun was the one I used the most. It seemed to have a larger clip with pretty good dmg/rate of fire. The range was alot shorter then the pump though. I found an awesome one that shot in a three round burst...would demolish in close range with it.

The pump shottys have much more range though and I found a few that fired an elemental "slug" round instead of the buckshot.

As for the sawed off, they are melee range one hit wonders. Just don't miss or you will be reloading forever like Gears 3.
