New forum poster, but have been playing since June

Like the title says I just joined the forum and am having fun reading all the posts everyone has made. I too am having some issues with the game and it's nice to know that I am not alone. I do have a question for those of you who are seasoned vets on this forum: I have seen many people have their display picture set to their game character, how do I do that/where do I go to find that picture? Please go easy on me as this is my very first post.

OK, here's the simplest way to do that.

First when launching the game, pause at the character selection screen. There you rotate your character in perfect safety to get the camera angle you want.

Step 2: Use a screen capture tool to take a pic (I use snip in windows). I set the snip box to grab just the amount of pic I want for my avatar pic.

Step 3: Save the pic to your PC. name it something like JessiPic.jpeg.

Step 4: On the forums, click on 'My Profile'. It's way up at the top. Yes, WAY up there.

Step 5: Click on 'Private Messages' (Yes, it does sound dumb but it's a quick way to get where you want to be.

Step 6: Scroll down a bit and over on the left side of the screen, under 'My Settings', click on 'Edit Avatar' (almost home now )

Step 7: Click 'Use Custom Avatar' and in Option Two, click 'choose file'. This opens the dir on you PC.

Step 8: Browse for the file saved in step 3 above.

Step 9: Click on the icon for your file (You will see it's name get propagated in the file name window) and click on 'OPEN'.

Step 10: This takes you pack to the Edit Avatar screen where you see the file name has been propagated into the choose file window under option 2. Click on 'Save Changes' and you will see your Avatar pic at the top of the Edit Avatar screen. We're done!
Whew!

[NOTE] These steps work on Windows PCs. I'm sorry but I have no clue how to do such things on a console.

Thank you for responding and not making me want to run for the hills I have an Xbox so I assume that is not an option for me, or I just don't pay too much attention to my game and its probably glaringly obvious.

BTW, love your banner. Big TB fan here, both books and show.

You'd need a camera to take a picture of your tv, though it probably won't turn out that great.

Wow, thank you so much for that, I appreciate that you went into so much detail for me. Ya'll are super nice on here. Unfortunately I have an Xbox 360 and don't have a capture card. I was hoping that maybe there was a function to look at your character online, (similar to Xbox Avatars) and I was just out of the loop. But alas it is not.

Many of us here DO try to help newcomers. However, you can help us to help you if you tell us what system you have in the original call for help. You can also update your signature to show your environment such as: NA - Xbox, or EU - PC, etc.
