Exclamation You Can't Upgrade The BETA Client! (Xbox, PC & PS3)

Just as a FYI! If you have installed the Defiance Beta Client during our Beta event, you will need to uninstall it and install the new client / launch title. You can leave the Beta client installed, but it will just sit there and take up Hard Drive space.

Also to outline, Your Beta content will NOT carry over into your launch client.
    Thanks

But surely a lot of the content will have been identical. Why not a simple delta install i.e. replacing the content which has differed? So this sounds like rather than a lot of people logging in and playing its going to be a a lot of people fighting for bandwidth downloading the new client.

Same (removal and new installation) for the Alpha Client?

I've re-downloaded the installer and it is now installing into a folder called 'live' rather than 'beta'. I didn't try but I suspect that a lot of the content will have changed and you could simply copy the 'beta' install into the 'live' one and allow the patcher to sort things out, saving you a lot of downloading.

As it is it looks like its only going to take 15 - 20 minutes to download anyway. Better now than tomorrow evening, and with 7 hours or so between the launch time and me playing hopefully things will have settled down a tad.

Oh, and developers, when you write an installer and un-installer, it's normally customary when un-installing to actually remove the program, and not leave 12GB of "junk" data on the drive, simply removing the title from the registry!!! <tuts>

For most of the player they don't really care
But personally I'll download again for 2 days ( 1 day and 30min) for a game wich is already in my computer, ready to play
Please dev stop changing everything let low bandwith users play quickly too ...

I tried by just putting my "Beta" folder inside the "Live" one, but that won't work ...

The list of files has changed substantially and a lot of files have been split from 1 to multiple files; that indicates a substantial refactoring of the code, in which case it's probably safer for them to require a full, fresh install because the combination of refactoring and trying to update pre-refactor files can cause weird bugs. You also would have ended up having to download a sizeable chunk of the total file size regardless so even if they'd taken the risk most likely you wouldn't have saved much download time.

Better a longer download than loads of people complaining about avoidable bugs on launch day

That's true I suppose. That would be way worse.

Would we atleast be able to download the game prior to tomorrows launch? Like, now?
Downloaded the launcher but it appears my account is "not entitled to play", so I can't login to download the game. =( <- Sad face.

@ThyJester - Go to trion website, change your password (even if you use the same one) then relog onto patcher. Other people set up security questions and were able to patch. Seems to work for most.

On a similar note. As I can't seem to find this info, is the launch going to be Midnight on the 2nd (for whatever time zone the devs are based)? Or later in the day?

EDIT: NVM, I found it. And yes, 12:01AM EDT.
