Well guys, the main point and the only reason is "why does defiance drop in price SO MUCH in SUCH A SHORT TIME?" Thats why people are feeling sad there. I know game do drop price but not at such a fast and furious rate. Right???

Simple matter is: don't buy a Trion Worlds game at launch.

When Rift launched in 2011, by the third month it was $9.99 at retailers, and even included the first $14.99/mo subscription for free as normal.

Defiance launched, and was $9.99 by the fourth into fifth month of launch.

So far, both of Trion Worlds' main games have plummeted upwards of 82% in MSRP within the first few months of launch. Lesson? When Trion Worlds launches a game, give it 3-5 months before buying in: they tend to not hold MSRP well at all.

Whining isn't going to help you get something you don't deserve. A lot of things have their prices lowered over time. Most people don't cry about it after the fact. Stop whining and pull on your adult pants.

That would make for an interesting gamer news article for some site: comparing various games and then the ratio of price lowered per months after launch and by how much. Would be interesting to see the statistics of various games in this regard.

Somewhat what your talking about except it's a little old and looks at video games(console) in general, not really any specific titles, but uses a few titles for reference. I would expect PC game depreciation to be much worse due to piracy and a much wider base of free to play games.

I think its rather obvious that Defiance was advertised as a 'finished' game when it came out barely into beta. They don't have the content to justify full price. The one and only real reason a game drops in price for any amount so quickly, is that the people that paid full price did not find it worth it, and told others. While I'm sure its disappointing, even a relative newcomer like myself is getting a bit tired of the complaining. Buying any game is a risk. I've bought many I found I did not like or that had glitches that prevented me from finishing it. For that matter I've bought books that turned out to be boring. I've bought expensive history books that dropped 1/3 the price a few months after I bought it... and survived. I've bought clothes that didn't survive the first washing.. and on and on. Okay, you paid a lot of money for a game and decided it wasn't worth it. It's better then then finding yourself suddenly partially paralyzed, and I should know. If spending too much jaja for a game is that big of a deal then maybe you all ought to get out of the computer chair and into the real world. I spend far more supporting charities then the highest price anyone could have lost paying for the initial defiance. Try a wider view of the world.

I think the point most of us are trying to make is that if you buy a game at launch, before the reviews come in, you are taking a risk. If you've figured that out, its a good thing.
