the gambryo engine is not a very well made engine.

unfortunately it takes a lot of people with talent to use it right.

the reason why its so "big" is because it is the engine bethesda uses, and they lack people with talent. when you do not have people with talent who can use the gambryo engine correctly, you get games from bethesda. there have been studios who have used the gambryo engine correctly to stunning effects and products. problem is finding a talented enough dev team.

No player ever got to see an iteration of any of that during even the alpha testing. This was way way way before all of that. And it was an engine issue not a platform one that prevented its going forward. Evidence of this is obvious when you get any one together in a small group and it cant even render you and reverts to the default skin.

Exiting devs from their glassdoor reviews of Trion also reflect the engine issue in relative regards:

First off, nothing I said contridicts what Tony said. We both said it was scrapped before the game went live.

Second, YOU assume it's a game engine issue because 'it can't render you and reverts to the default skin'. I see that as a platform issue. I've NEVER seen that on my PC version, but I see lots of Xboxers say they see it.

It does happen for PC players too. Its not one platform only.

Well, sure, some PCs have relatively little RAM and crappy graphics. ALL consoles are under powered for a game with dozens and sometimes hundreds of players in close proximity.

I'd like to see an option 4. Something like a subterranean cavern town.

Just so we're clear here, what level do you think someone is experiencing this in on a pc rig wise and at what level above should they not be?

Possibly and I'd like it, but I'm wondering why Destiny (which players hyped would be an MMO though the devs may only have said had MMO elements) has really backed off from that and is now said to be sort of a random open world team thing.

I know consoles and their limitations are making it hard if not impossible to do the things people want and are really responsible for a lot of the lag we have and all that, but so are our connections. This may always plague consoles, something that seems to not ever be as big an issue for PCs. The new consoles are supposed to be more like PCs in a box, so I hope it will help. The problem is that along with being able to render current content, people will (not wrongly) expect them to be able to handle a heck of a lot more. So everything will be more complex in order to work better and look better.

It won't be enough for many if a new game just does all this current stuff (that may already have needed a next gen console) better. The game itself will have to have more. And along with connection speeds and the failure of the industry to give many of us truly high speed internet, it may be that games are always hitting a wall.

This happened with Oblivion--freeze ups, offline lag or reduced framerate probably due to slow rendering. And my brother had it happen with different PCs, too. Same things. But much worse for some console players.

The first one seems most feasible. Having little sectors in the whole thing would be great, like a market, a town hall (perhaps to connect to the forums?), a club (who doesn't like to dance and *ahem*, "mingle", eh), and some other neat features.
