Cuz they are physically separated servers - US players cant play with EU server players. But you can freely chosoe the server you want to play at.

Weird that Trion said that the servers would be up at midnight.
For the US it's 7-8 hours to early while it's midnight here in europe! >.<

I've done this with a few releases at work. Run final tests while no one is expecting to be sure there's nothing I've missed.
Without any announcement, I would be cautious about any guarantee of continuous gameplay.
EDIT: BTW, Steam has said "Ready to play" since the beta. That's nothing new. I ignored it and downloaded from Trion, placing everything in the Steam folder manually.
Well na was enough for me to get ingame and see the settigns - same as beta, nothing has changed for the better.
Even somethign as simple as disabling the fast chat fadeout.

Would seem odd that some stuff isn't patched. Maybe they're not finished and just live testing?
It's all speculation at this point.
give them some time.. I'm sure after a short while after release they will improve greatly. They did improve RIFT, they will improve Defiance. I'm not worried at all
