Destiny on PS4

Hey was just checking out launch titles for the PS4..still undecided on if I'll buy the first gen, but have you guys seen the three trailers for Destiny? Developed by Bungie and published by Activision. It looks like Defiance, done right! I regretfully have given up on Defiance, which was too bad because it had so much potentional, but Destiny looks amazing!! Looks like it will be an MMO just like Defiance but with both First Person and Third Person capabilities. Anyways, just wanted to tell you guys to checkout this game out.
No way Defiance will still be around when this lands.

So you mean to say that every copy of the game will magically go *bye bye* once Destiny launches? If I knew you were actually good for the money, I would totally bet against you on that one.

It's not an MMO and yet they're being cute in saying it has MMO aspects. In fact, some of the information about it does not even make it clear that you can play it with friends-that all MP events will be with random players. It's not released yet. It looks amazing-graphics look cool so definitely it's going to be cool.

It's being released by two companies who have a track record for creating the same game every time they create a game, and that charge a premium for their DLCs. Activision is the company that owns the CoD franchise and every DLC that is released has even got maps that were released in previous games, one recent map was the same thing without snow. And zombies. You can pay a lot individually or buy the Season Pass for DLC.

And Halo games (Bungie), while fun enough, are basically the same game in every release along with bland maps for MP, some versions of Halo were not even that good. Shocker, I'm slapping the face of god by saying Halo isn't the super game to beat them all.

So, this might be good, it'll probably sell very well. But, I certainly hope people are paying attention to all the things they're saying about it even at this stage of the game-because if they are talking about something that they're thinking of putting in the game and they don't do it, they're lying.

And start asking now when the DLC is going to be released. I'm sure it will be 2 days after the game is because that's what people want (not).

Yes because "major companies" like Bungie and Activision never make crap, ever. Because they make cookie cutter games that are virtually the same in every incarnation-that assures they will have a fanbase that knows what they're getting, bugs and all. The last version of CoD was enough for me. I finally paid attention to what I'd been thinking all along about these boring ragefests. And Black Ops 2 was a mess at release, still can be all but impossible to play MP, and features rage quitting, constantly restarted matches, and more fun stuff. Halo games have had their issues as well. Tell me about boring and grinding for nothing. That's what CoD Prestige is all about. And just what season does their Season Pass correspond with?

And these are from major companies making the same game every time, that should by now have gotten it right. I'm sure it will be a hit. But please do make sure you hold them to the same standards as you have a smaller company that has been trying to do something that no one has done before. Oh, why should you, they're major companies, the gold standard.

I get what you are saying, I hate COD and Activision but like you already said read into the game. You seem to be knocking the game just because Activision and from all the info out so far Destiny looks nothing like a COD game. Ever try sifting your posts through the same set of 'well established guidlines' you pose against others? o.0 Hmmm, mebbe', naaa probably not. Bottom line is this style of thread is tech against the forum rules, so when a lemming runs in to post how great "XYZ" is gonna' be versus whatever game the current forum belongs to, I offer up a counter minded sentiment.

As far as what makes me a better than some others.... I don't post junx threads. Now go sit in a corner and think about your next post. Wouldn't want another one of your lil' outbursts to get sponged away again, now would we?

Yeah because it's always important to pay for the exact same game year after year just to be sure you know what you're getting. I don't want anyone to innovate so I'm glad to fork out money for map packs that are re-does of maps they already release--oh, but it has snow on it now. Completely worth it.

I'm not knocking the game--I am completely annoyed with these major companies that people seem to think are some sort of gods. They can do no wrong. Believe me, go into chat and say something like I've said here. It won't be pretty.

The info on Destiny doesn't convince me. And people are free to dislike Defiance and point out problems. But all I'm saying and what I've said in the past is then be as critical of these major companies and the stuff they say and do, as people are about Trion and Defiance. They are the ones that set the trend for most of the games that come later-in getting us to fork over money and all that. And their games have as many bugs as Defiance has had (all roads tend to lead to lag) and after all these years they should be able to get it right, if there is a fix for that.

I'm not saying Destiny is like a CoD game. I'm saying that early on they said it would be an MMO and then they stopped saying it (maybe because they saw problems Defiance was having with it). Think about this. Even if Defiance gets released on the One and PS4, I don't think that will solve lag. Lag is due to many things. Part of that we know on consoles is due to the consoles themselves. Defiance on next gen if released as is might have a lot of lag reduced, but people will expect a lot more--that means more complexity, along with 64 of us all running around in the same phase--lag may still be there, no matter what.

So, the devs for Destiny might have seen that they could not make it an MMO. So, now it's sort of a team-based series of events that take place in a sort of open world that has some MMO elements. That means it's not an MMO, but they're using that label to kind of mislead people. And from what I've read, it does not now say you will get into teams with friends, but that you will come upon people doing things in the game and team up with them.

Don't confuse RPG with MMO. They did originally talk about this as an MMO (I don't mean RPG, not the same thing) and are now saying it has MMO elements. I said nothing about RPG. I also had to laugh (sorry I did), at the early teaser trailer with Master Chief. The guy has an armored suit on, but he's wearing cloth robes to protect him from the elements. Ok. It was funny.


And don't take my word for it--I was interested in Destiny way back when there was little info on it, but Bungie had been talking about an MMO and then released the name Destiny.
