Just started playing the game. After a lengthy install I have enjoyed the few hours I put in. Just bought an xbox and about 3 other games but i can see myself playing this one for sometime as it is very fun.

Maybe this will spark some other networks to pick up video games, turn them into tv shows, and make them interactive. I rememer how smellavision was supposed to reveloutionize tv, or when you could text mtv and it would scroll across the bottom. Personaly I welcome the woven days of tv and gaming.
Unless NBCUniversal sees a decent return on the over $100 million they've spent on Defiance (including 50% of the game's development, and overall marketing), I would not bank on other networks trying it anytime soon. And that price tag is before we add in the cost of producing the upcoming second season.

And considering a Syfy head said to Forbes that they generally do not make revenue on any of their shows directly (including Warehouse 13) but do so through licensing, and that Trion Worlds owns the Defiance I.P. and Syfy was banking on the game making revenue for the franchise, I'm very curious to see what NBCUniversal decides after season 2. A part of me wonders if season 2 isn't mainly a hope that they can turn this around. After all, it has happened in shows/franchises before.

The honeymoon phase is the best. Enjoy it while you can and take your time to explore. I'm still EGO ~2600 after all this time, and still unlocking my perks.

    Substance... haha.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

As far as I can tell, they DO pay employees to appear supportive, but those employees, like Greg are clearly identified as employees. And, I'm pretty sure no Trion employees are allowed to log on the forums with any but their official account. So, IMO the folks here who are over the top in praise of the game are doing it for other than money. Maybe some people actually like Defiance?
You're right. We have incognito play accounts but we never post on the forums. If and when that rule is broken (happened once in my tenure at another company) bad things happen because it's something I hate with the fire of a thousand suns.

I think they were talking about making it a movie (at least thats a rumor that floats around). I used to watch Heros, that was supposed to be a movie.. never happened.
I get sick of all the reality shows, and miss tv prior to the writers strike. I don't find very many shows I like to watch anymore.... I hope something changes and tv makes a comeback but there is soooo much money made from reality shows so im not going to hold my breath. The profit margin is very high thats why they give anyone with a camera a show nowadays.

Thank you for helping grow a sci-fi new world, particularly today when sci-fi is mostly gone.
Thank you for giving us the means to not only be a part of the game, but also a part of the show.
Thank you for providing me with something to do these past few months.
Thank you for giving me an AWESOME basis for continuing my wiki work.
    Thank you for Defiance!
You clearly have not spent much time playing this game.

    This game is broken

    This game's servers are broken

This game is pretty much unplayable for 80% of it's playerbase

Trion is making no real effort to fix their broken product

Instead of fixing the broken game, Trion instead works on new DLC

Trion is just as bad as Activision and the Call of Duty servers, they don't care about their customers at all or about fixing the problems with their games.

So please explain exactly why you think Trion needs thanked for releasing a broken, rushed, unpolished product that they refuse to fix so that people can actually play the game they bought?!
