Oh come on, at first everyone said that "Dark Matter Arkfall is real hard and challenging".

Maybe it was for newbies. But now, almost no one dies. It takes time, but it's not difficult. Surely the same thing will happen with this type of new Arkfall.
    Don’t hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don’t need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!

Recently got a look at this preview. I can't be the only one who got Borderlands flashbacks from the proposed changes to grenades - not a bad thing, just different. Spikes, of course, are the Defiance answer to totems... and makes me wonder if we're going to see enemies use them too (i.e. Dark Matter support trooper - a monitor that uses them instead of the shield). Cautiously optimistic about the changes to arkfalls.

Now, if spikes represent a new item type - deployables - what're the odds of players having access to things like the monitors' shields, or calldowns that summon things like sentry turrets (I mean, if you can summon your vehicle from nowhere...) or friendly scrapper mongrels? The latter are, of course, completely justified ingame thanks to a certain main story mission; the turrets would have fixed firing arcs (when you place one, your EGO puts up a 'ghost' showing where its facing and arc would be; you hit the button again to actually deploy it) and can be disabled just like the ones you already see in the wild (and yes, this means you'd have to repair them, almost certainly while under fire).

All I can think of is how awesome DLC 1 sounded, with 4 player arenas and a "truck of doom" with a turret, bad *** weapons and huge Dark Matter arkfalls.

How much of that did they pull off? And what we got still doesn't work right.

This game's been reduced to clan events for me so it sounds like none of this next DLC will even come up when I play, except that I probably won't use grenades anymore since no one knows how they will work LOL.

And the infector grenades we got as a reward from Rynn will become even more useless...

Don't forget we were promised free DCL's coming out between the paid DCL's.

I really hope this is to the case. Arkfalls should be differing sized debris from massive ships. I pictured them as mid sized co-op maps. (picture something similar to Dead Space). If they end up being nothing but a Nim-esque boss area, I will be sorely disappointed.

Although calling down a boss event at will sounds cool, it will not take long before it's tedious.

I am in agreement with you, sir. Surely between their game and show 'halves', the art team has come up with some ideas on what the interiors of these arks might look like; it'd be a shame to let all that creative effort go to waste.

Yep, it's a step in the right direction that you get to go into the ships but looking like the example did, it looks pretty bland. I hope it's pretty roughed up and will look more like the ships inside did in episode one or the episode with the astronaut ( even though I know the chances of that are super low ).

Have to see and do stuff with my own eyes first, but after the disaster from first DLC, I do not think it can be any worse.

To amplify on why the proposed alterations thereto gave me Borderlands flashbacks, consider the following wiki entry.

On another note, how much trouble would it be for Defiance to adopt certain... interesting... PvP modes from other games? A short list follows:
    • Kill Confirmed (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3): when killed, you drop a tag. Any member of the enemy team can collect it - this is the only way they can get the credit for scoring purposes (XP still accrues normally); conversely, you can collect an ally's tag to frustrate this.
    • Search and Rescue (CoD: Ghosts): KC mutation. Instead of being the way the enemy can get credit for killing you, the tag is in effect your respawn license: if an ally picks it up, you can respawn normally; should an enemy claim it, you sit out the remainder of the round.
    • Interrogation (The Last of Us): an involved mode best suited for the larger PvP maps or Shadow War. This developer video really explains it best.
