That very slow (and fluctuating) download speed is typically caused by the router security level and/or which ports are open.
If your router security level is set to Medium or higher it will slow you down. Set it to low or turn it off or add Trion.games as a trusted site.

    [UPDATE]
Spayde posted this on 23 March:

So at the CS reps advice I forwarded the ports on my Router (Xfinity SMC) and that RESOLVED the issue!

Apparently the MEDIUM Security Setting on this Router blocks the game. When I lowered it to Low (not advised!) I was able to connect instantly!

If you want to just forward the ports, the PC Client Ports are: 80, 443, 50000, 65000, 40000-41000.

If you aren't sure how to do this, you can check out sites like portforward.com.

In adition to the port address we got from CS, I remember that RIFT downloader/patcher wanted ports 6520 thru 6540.

i dont think thats the problem, i had no issues d/l rift at launch, and this went from max speed down to about 1/3 then after 45 mins back upto half then 20 mins later upto full again, if it was a router issue it wouldnt have d/l at full speed for the first 2 hours and i probably would have had issues when i d/l rift, also i have never had any other internet issues.

2 - 2.2MB/s here constantly for the last like 20mins. 1/5 done already with 1hr left to go.

Normal speed is around 2.6MB/s so i'm not going to complain about not hitting max speed
