    General Game Etiquette

I just started playing this game and I enjoy it a lot. I've played one other MMO, but it wasn't a first person shooter game like this one.
So I am still learning the mechanics but I was wondering if people could post some thoughts on general game etiquette. My questions are as follows:
1.) Loot: It doesn't show to other players unless you are in a group right? And when you are in a group (which I haven't been yet) do you roll on it? Do standard need/greed/no-ninja rules apply?
2.) Rescue missions and arkfalls and dynamic events: Is it ok to join in on a rescue mission you can't do yourself? Or an arkfall for that matter? Is it ok to help kill the boss, or should you p*ss off if you don't get a group invite (I'm not sure what an arkfall is either. Does your XP take away from others XP?)
3.) If you are a new player like me is there a number of EGO point you can hit that allows you to line up for instances or are you expected to wait until you hit "endgame" content? Basically, in classic MMO terms - is there a "level 20 dungeon?"
Any other etiquette things I should know?
Thanks is advance and see you in game,
    Ashado

ok i shall begin with, you may use whatever playstyle u wish, whether it be a far sniper or a cqb, pretty much everyone one gets loot as long as they are fighting the same boss
you can join in whatever arkfall or instance you want, dont let people tell you otherwise. no u dont have to be a certain ego to play certain things, u just need some skill

    1) it's YOUR loot no one can see or take what drops for you.

    2) it's fine to help at any arkfall as they're public events. emergencies if you see someone already
doing it you might watch and see if they need help before jumping in.

    3) nope they used to have a few things with ego caps
other then loadout slots/perk slots that's about it I think.

I am ego 4175 and just answered as best as I could
I never ran into any sort of restrictions. (#3)

    1. Everyone gets their own loot.
    2. Yes.
    3. You can look at the co-op map matchmaking list and it will show you the EGO ratings or story progression you need to hit to do certain maps. Though it's very minimal.

Other etiquette? Well, I'll just describe some things I saw while playing last night that will tell you what to expect when playing Defiance...

    - 30 or so people running over someone on the road who needs revived, but nobody does it because they're on their way to a siege and getting there early is only the real way of getting points or a decent reward. (and this is after an update that makes it easy to see someone who needs help on the radar)
    - Doing a minor Arkfall by yourself and some finally comes along, heals you a bit then immediately leaves so they can get the same reward as you without having to do anything. Then having to finish the rest of the arkfall by yourself.
    - People standing around in certain locations shooting other players with obnoxious weapons while they're in their menus or shopping.

And that's just a typical day in Defiance. You're late the party on a game that's *** up in the water and sinking. Enjoy!

I like this guy. He's much more considerate than most people on this forum.
    1. Loot is exclusive to you. There will be no problems with other players ninja-looting your hard earned stuff like in Borderlands.
    2. Go ahead and join. Dynamic events such as arkfalls and sieges and the like are meant to be done by as many players as possible. The XP that you receive in both is your own and will not effect anyone else's.
    3. Kinda-sorta. You can don't have access to all of the Co-op instances right away, so you can't que up for them on your own. However, that won't stop you from joining someone who does have it unlocked. You could be fresh out of the tutorial and join a friend in a Scrapworks Salvage co-op (last co-op unlock iirc).

There's really nothing else that I can think of atm. You pretty much covered most of it.

    Y'all whine too much.

when your walking by someone and they are downed make sure you teabag

increase your overscan in the settings it gets the xp bar to the bottom of the screen (you know out of the way)
turning off voices will turn off the EGO voice to she is useless and acts like she is the one doing eveything
    worker bees can leave
    even drones can fly away
the queen is their slave--Fight Club

Even better is when you can get a group of 3 together and one random in a co-op map, then kick that random right before the end so they can do a good amount of work without getting any reward.

Oh and when you turn off the voices you still get that annoying beep that they recycled from the races. Anyway to turn that off too?

The first "rule" as I see it in this game is to control what annoyances you may have. The second "rule" is there are no rules on how you must behave. At one point in your game you may want to kill everything at some arkfalls and someone might get mad you're killing skitterlings. At another point in your game, you might want to focus on shooting a red crystal at an arkfall and won't like it that people are killing skitterlings.

If you read things here you will see that side A doesn't like what side B does at arkfalls or at emergencies (these are those things you come upon on the road but that can be in fields too) and so on and vice versa. Besides cheating, exploiting, glitching, or just randomly trying to crap on people in game, what the game allows you to do is allowable. Not always recommended, but allowed. Some people will do the "right" thing and others won't.

If you come upon someone fighting on the road, it's acceptable to stop and fight too-if that's what you want to do. The thing is if you stop, someone might get mad because they wanted to do it by themselves. But, if you don't stop, someone might get mad because you passed them by when they needed help. As one poster said, it might be best to stop (if you are not in the middle of doing something else-your decision) and see if the person needs help.

Someone here already posted a gripe they have-people that drive by and don't revive them if they're down. Well, this is another thing to get used to-sometimes, you cannot see people are down on the ground even if you are working the same emergency. Someone driving by maybe should stop and help if they see someone down, but again, control your reaction to it-they are doing something they planned on doing. And they may feel that if they revive someone then they'll be at risk too. But it's also just as likely they didn't see the person laying on the ground. It would be nice if they stopped to help but just understand that sometimes other people are just playing their game too. No one really has the right to tell anyone how to play their game (again cheats and exploits are the exception). It would be nice if everyone would be decent, but no one fully agrees on what that is.

Consider that foes' difficulty level scales based upon players fighting them-up to an unknown point. That means, if one person is fighting a foe it's easier than when two people are based on difficulty alone. But two people can have an easier time if they use tactics like distract or flank. The issue of someone having to do a minor arkfall alone can be frustrating but I've done a few and they're often fairly easy because the foes are not as difficult. But if someone tags it (they do enough damage and maybe healing at it) and leaves, that can make the arkfall actually very hard for one person to complete, because the game thinks at least 2 people are fighting and the foes scale up for 2 people.

So far the only foes that don't provide the "everyone gets credit bonus that matters sometimes" are Volge Bombers. There are contracts (things you do for a certain currency called reputation) that require you get the killshot. You may get XP for killing them, but not get that contract credit for the killshot if you don't land the killshot. And in PvP, you won't get contract credit if you don't land certain killshots on the other players. Otherwise, everyone usually gets credit for something done in an area (even if they only passed through it). You'll see a window pop up that says you got credit for killing mutants or some other foe, and you didn't even kill one. You drove through an area where someone was killing mutants and so you're getting credit for the kills.

Arkfalls are as of now, open world events-they show up red on your map. Small circles are minor arkfalls-big circles with small circles in them are major arkfalls. They are open to everyone. Greenish small shields within circles are Sieges and anyone can join in. Advice: if you are the only person at a Siege, do not go near the first capture point A until others arrive. Sieges are on a countdown timer and the time starts when one point is captured. The foes come in waves and the idea is to try and complete the most waves before the time runs out. If you start it and are alone, that makes it difficult to get past many stages.

As far as EGO level there are instances you cannot start such as some coops and I think PvP at lower levels-but you can get into if you're in a group.
