I survived six years in the Marines in the 60s AND 30 years in the Silicon Valley by expecting things to go wrong, planning what to do WHEN (not IF) things went wrong, and practicing the plan. Life isn't meant to be easy, it's meant to be challenging.
I am not trying to be rude but if you survived 6 years in the marines in the 60s, i presume you was around 20 yrs old in the marines, so that would make you 73yrs is that true? if so, then fair play

something as simple as a laminated checklist with a permanent marker and some hand sanitizer. checklist of necessary functions to be completed, marker to check them off, hand sanitizer to clean it off and use again. 3 sections, before, during and after operation. some with entirely too much pride would see it as an insult. someone who trusts their equipment to work would do something like this to ensure that human error is eliminated as much as possible. i have fired countless numbers of rounds through weapon systems over the years, but i still use my cheat cards when it comes to checking to make sure my weapons and equipment work. the little things.

all of those cute sayings are based on the idgaf attitude, in my opinion. i am a hard presser for recognizing the mistake and immediately finding and implementing a solution.

Does that checklist account for someone tripping over a cable when your not looking?
If it does, that's a pretty thorough checklist.

Anything can happen when we least expect.
And like an old saying : after the house is robbed, locks on the doors.

We are perfect, we don`t make mistakes...only the others makes mistakes, not us.
