I suspect she meant to say that it isn't true at the current time. I would certainly agree that this version of Defiance can't thrive on a P2P model. The game COULD change of course and then, the business model might be adjusted.

I don't believe these rumours are true but in case anyone at trion reads this and get any ideas,
I brought this game New + a season pass that is a lot of money that I don't and can't usually spend on gaming, it was a one off.
i don't mind paying for a season pass for season 2 providing we got some fun content but a monthly fee would price me out of the game and quite frankly the game doesn't offer enough content to warrant a subscription fee.

That is not true.

It -was- $5 bucks one time price and discussed as being so a while back on EA's Origin for that price. However it was a limited time deal that has already expired. This may be where the confusion was. Kotaku even wrote about it:

I mean pay per month is clearly out, no one is going to pay that since this game aint worth it.

But a prem service akin to F2P games where non payers get no drops/miniscule exp and payers get normal drop rates/exp? Already like that with boosts so why not go that extra mile to gouge further?

What drops !? If i have to pay to keep not getting good loot, then for sure i`ll not pay...lol
