if we don't get a response by Friday, I'll ask them while they're doing the livestream.
BOW TO THE WARMASTERSWE JUST GOT TIRED OF DOIN' WHAT YA TOLD US TO DO
Yea, this definitely sounds like a case of "fixing what ain't broke" to me.
This. I am sure people are totally misunderstanding it. Just because you run out of ammo for your weapon, that doesn't mean you lose the weapon. Not quite the same, but the same idea. I do think though it's possible that you can't just switch to another grenade-it seems like it would mean you'd have no grenades left of any kind until you find more ammo. That would need to be clarified.
I'd also like to know what this is in response to. I'm thinking it's due to complaints about one grenade rapid kills in PvP. Which again brings up the real problem in this game related to nerfing and any sort of buffing (the stims). PvP and PvE should be handled separately. It may be that they're seeing some "overuse" of some grenades in PvP and instead of nerfing the grenade itself (which would effectively kill its value), they're nerfing the ability to use them-but that still does nerf it.
It's like adding another staggered refresh rate (based upon finding more to refill), but grenades already have different refresh rates. With any grenade it's a decision right now between a few things-refresh rate, some have high and low dmg, tick damage, range, and duration of tick damage if any.
It may be that this is something that is in coordination with the stims and they made it so use of a stim also reloads your grenades. It could be that they made it so that the stims could lead to the instant refresh of grenades since I think they refresh HP and ammo. So, you could in effect have constant grenades with zero refresh times if they did not add a cooldown for replenishing them. If you're in a group with others and you have a stim and they have stims too, those stims are supposed to work for everyone-they said you could just stand within the stim zone and stay while it's active.
I do think they need to explain it better and say why this is something they're doing. I don't particularly like limited grenades in other games at all, but it's a pretty standard thing. I was actually surprised this game allowed for the refresh of grenades since most games do not. I wonder how many other games have been criticized for this "game breaking" attribute.
Except there have been a lot of complaints about quick kill grenades. Some people have said it is broken. I'm not saying that it's so, but this is the only game I'm aware of that has infinite refreshing grenades and this may be related to other new things coming into the game-the stims, for one.
As I said, I wonder how many other games are broken because they have limited supply grenades--oh and those games often don't replenish your grenades until you hit a different location or in PvP, unless you die.
I like refreshing grenades, by the way.
Other games may use this system. If this game had started that way as well, it would be fine. The hard thing is changing the system and making the grenades we have worked so long and hard for totally worthless. A lot of us also purchased these and they are the 2nd highest price item in the game on the forums after AR/LMG.
Yeah but there were people complaining in the general discussion forum and in chat in the game--and people also sending feedback in the game to Trion. I know of people that were plenty mad about this and that complained all through actual PvP about constantly getting killed instantly by a grenade after unloading their gun into a player who took very little damage. And the words used by some people can't be repeated here.
I didn't say this was my complaint but that people were complaining and many were mad enough to want Trion to do something about it. Just because you never read it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. I've heard many things said that start like this, "I'm so sick of PvP because..." followed by obscenities and then grenades. Not indicative of the majority, but of the attitude of some.
