I guess that is why in the end everyone needs a BMG in there inv. They never run out of ammo. they just have to recharge. So once your out of Ammo your the Medic with minor about of fire power.

This is the only part of the game that I really have a problem with so far. I had to leave a major ark fall twice to find a ammo supply and then run back which is kind of stupid. People were running their vehicles into the bad guys after they ran out of ammo instead of going to get more. Its way too easy to run out of ammo doing these things and makes them unenjoyable.
I gave up on the major arkfall. Too many people driving around, too many bugs disappearing and reappearing, no ammo, etc.
Tis a tad challenging to hit a small weak point when it's warping around due to either network issues or idiots in cars. As far as I could tell, the cars don't do any damage to the larger bugs.
Just to put a slightly different perspective on this problem, I'd like to say that there was definitely a problem with ammo drops the last time I took part in a major arkfall. However, I did see some ammo dropping, just not a lot. The thing is though, when I ran across it, it didn't replenish my ammo stock at all. Now, I was mainly using an infector, an assault rifle and a bolt action sniper one. I ran out of ammo for all three in the course of the final arkfall several times. as did plenty of other people who were doing the same as me and driving up the hill on the nearest road to an ammo chest at an extraction point.
One thought I've had while reading this thread is maybe certain types of ammo aren't dropping? That might explain why some people are arguing so vociferously that there is no problem? I've been in both beta and alpha testing groups so can't remember on which server I last saw this problem but the devs have been experimenting with ammo drops ever since I first joined beta testing in January. Sometimes we've had too much, sometimes too little. I'm sure the devs are aware of the outstanding issue of drops at major arkfalls and a fix will be in place soon.
Sure i'll get some stick just as everyone has in this post for agreeing or not agreeing to the arguments stated.
Who can actually state it's a bug, do you have written confirmation from a developer? I'm not saying it is, i'm not saying it isn't. Sure it's an issue for many people but isn't for others.
Could it be intentional to make what should be the hardest element in the game "The hardest element in the game".
I personally remember at a comic con convention with the developers interview where they stated the difficulty rating of major Ark falls would increase with the more people that arrived in the battle, whether this included the "bug" about ammo drops I could not say.
But what I can say they have purposefully made a talent that automatically refills your ammo. No I'm not talking about scavenger from drops I'm talking about Prepardeness which is almost one of the central perks linking all 4 perk aspects. Did you ever consider that this was the reason you need this perk, or that ultimately a lot of people complaining will still have a relatively low ego rating and it's intentional that they don't want you easy mode'ing major Arkfall's at such an early stage in the game.
As i say sure, send hate, say i'm not seeing the point. At the end of the day if it's a bug or even if it isn't there is a solution to your problems, just like going a few hundreds metres to resupply. Anyway that's just a little bit of info in-case you missed it as fully perked 9% re-supply to ammo when in backpack, really you can't switch weapons, wait 11 seconds then change?
Also if you are a sniper it's not just a matter of conserving ammo and going for head shots but the stats of having a crit are higher so taking the Assassin's cache perk that replenishes ammo on crits is a must
There are some events that dont drop ammo or have machines. It's def. an issue.
I'm watching Naked Gun on netflix cos I ordered with Amazon.

I was doing a major arkfall duo with some random guy
There were NO ammo drops whatsoever, we killed 100s of bugs and not one of them dropped ammo
The minor ones drop plenty of ammo, but the major ones are just bugged
Both of us ran to a crate 300m away from the arkfall like 4 times unloaded 4 different ammo types and not one ammo drop
So, I did a major hellbug arkfall earlier, and I can confirm that this is still happening. All the little event leading up to the hellion had plenty of ammo. The hellion? Not one ammo drop. Luckily, it was in the spot near Kinship Plaza, which has an ammo crate just outside the area. I had to go fill up three times.
Apparently, elite hellbugs don't drop ammo. That's all that spawned. Elite Archers, elite Warriors, Elite Monarchs. They'd drop salvage, two or three scrip, and that was it. I need to figure out where that ammo regen perk is so I can use it.
I can assure you I have tested this in and out as thoroughly as anyone could possibly expect one to, and there is definitely an issue here.
I get ammo from everything else in the game, the minor arkfalls, the random events, normal mobs, big mobs, in instances, if it exists in the game, and I can shoot it, i can gain ammo from it....
EXCEPT in the large scale arkfall battles with the hellion. None, let me make this clear here...NONE of the three battles, the one where you shoot at the glands, the one where you just kill the queen or whatever it is, and the one where you have to fight a bunch of monarchs, NONE of them drop ammo.
It does not matter how many monsters I tagged, or even killed by myself, while waiting for ammo drops (I had a shotgun, and couldn't hit the darn bug thing, so I was trying to gain ammo for my secondary, an assault rifle) I never once saw any ammo. I didn't see any in beta either. It just isn't happening in the big battles.
OCCASIONALLY I will get a random burst of ammo for ONE gun. It's about 3/4ths for whatever gun happens to fill. But no amount of enemies killed or tagged made them drop ammo. This is not player error, this is not people not knowing how to make sure they get ammo, something is decidedly wrong.
