    Draconian,
In before lock is like standard internet hilarity. To lose Points or get a warning because somebody posts it in a thread that is clearly going to get locked is asinine.

This is like the S&M of forums where the mods love to punish.
Will I get a "spanking" for this post?

this is too funny. most of those rules are common sense, but the others are just silly.

who decides what makes a comment meaningful? a few random interjections can breathe new life into a thread and move the conversation forward.

while i agree that there are way too many polls and that petitions are the worst thing to ever happen to gaming, but forbidding them? same with "quiting" topics. is the point of that to keep negative posts from showing up in google searches?

communities evolve and thrive without moderators trying to micromanage them. moderators should only moderate personal attacks/hate speech, spam, and hacks. the rest of those rules are silly.

Freedom of speech is dying a slow miserable death.
I agree with the common sense ones of course. It's the itty bitty teeny weeny micromange me a meanie rules that are hilarious. *sing that in your head*

There has already been a precedent for such subjectivity to be used to marginalize criticism or discussion of issues. In some ways one could argue that part of the reason of rehashing these already in place rules and framed as they are is an extension of that purpose.

Ya, its like some people don't understand that there is a Web team, for the websites/forum stuff, and then there are the dev team for the game/servers.

it has to be to keep negative posts from showing up on google. when i have a defiance question, i ask google. it usually points me to this forum and works a lot better than the forums search function.

The 10 character limit is just ridiculous to begin with. A simple "I agree" would do more than suffice, except your forums don't allow it. The poor coding on the forums by vBulletin is why you see /10 char. Coding, by the way, that could have been eliminated by a simple moderator click of a check box on the back-end.

I know, I've used vBulletin on the hosting level.

"One Account Limit: Do not use multiple accounts: if we find out, your other accounts will almost certainly be closed. If you create one or more to circumvent a ban we've issued- even if it's a temporary one- your main <i>and</i> extra accounts may be permanently banned. Don't do it. Seriously!"

I have had to make a few diff "Chumps" because for some reason it doesnt let me log in so I make a new account.

So will this rule only apply to new accounts made after it is in effect?
