Future plans for retention?

I know some of the folks running Trion and they are NOT incompetent, far from it. They are very good at producing and marketing online games. This leads me to believe that there is a business reason that they have no player retention plan for Defiance. If their analysis shows that they make more money from new players than from veteran players, it makes sense to cater to new players and ignore the need/wants of the veterans. I'm not implying that they are trying to drive vets away, I just think they don't care. We can stay or we can go, it's up to us. Trion won't make any efforts to retain us.

To me though, that "dont care" stance you claim for Trion contradicts your first and second sentences. It is a horrible business model of consideration to use a revolving door set up because it not only disenfranchises those that leave, it ensures they let others know to stay away as well and that harms revenue. Worse still it can leave such a strong negative impression as to not patronize any other current or future titles of the company.

So while you might feel there are good folks there, they're not evidently running the current macabre show and would very much seem to be marginalized, much like we are.

When Defiance was first announced the first thought off the top of my head was "What's a good gaming company like Trion doing in bed with SyFy? Pretty funny, huh?

Like fly by night roofers and carpet cleaners, if you work for a company like that for much longer than it takes to figure out that they don't do good work and don't want repeat customers, it says as much about you as it does about the company.

Problem is, I like Dahanese, Greg and Trick. I don't know them personally so can't judge their character, but I like them so far from what I've seen of them. It's hard bailing from a company that's going down the tubes, your first thought is to try to save it.

I haven't given up on Defiance yet because of family and friends still playing so I wish those guys the best of luck trying to salvage something from this mess. And if not, I hope to see them again further down the road.

You wan't veteran rewards from a game that's been out 5 months?

Yes, I have been here since day 1 (even though I joined the forums a month later). With the current state of the game, the tons of animosity on the forums, the lousy handling of customer concerns and issues by the moderators, the empty promises, the broken features, and so on and so forth... I just think that retention should be a major goal right now. But I can see they are more focused at breaking more stuff in the game and fixing what doesn't need to be fixed while leaving stuff like orange BMGs that have the same rolls as a purple, broken synergies (or synergy mods for weapons that don't exist), and retention to keep paying customers are far from their goals.
