This makes sense. I can see this happening. Then someway weasel out of pushing out the rest of DLCs too. That or get away with crap dlcs.

Seems they don't think many things all the way through, unless the actual goal is to lose, then it all makes perfect sense.

If you can hear text, I hope you're using a reading program. Otherwise you may need to see a doctor.

    This saddens me.
We continually try to support Trion and it always ends up making me feel like we are the children who keep on putting our hand on the stove element to see if it is hot when it is plainly bright red. The "wait and see" policy just isn't paying off like we are hoping it would.
So what are we supposed to do? Sit and be quiet about it when no one listens to us anyway?
    Sad.

I'm not certain but I think the answer has been found. Decrease the amount of loot that drops.
I've been scratching my head on this as well...

/clear removes unwanted loot laying on the ground in order to reduce client lag.

/loot will pick up all scrip/salvage and if you have room in inventory it will also grab items. Ammo shall remain on the ground to be picked up at will.

Shrug, I think it would work, but I'm a bit tired so maybe I didn't consider an aspect of this that would cause problems.

Edit: Thinking about it more... you don't have to pick up your experience points off the ground, so why do we have to pick up scrip/salvage and/or items. Ideally the only thing dropping on the ground should be ammo, and items only if the players inventory is full.

Seems so simple, does it not?
    These are just my opinions.
    I have lots of opinions.
Some of them, on occasion, people have agreed with.
I do not trust those people.

IMO, Trion bit off more than they can chew

It seems like every company has there "baby" that they make all there money on.
I feel, that Baby is Rift for trion.

Running 2 mmos at the same time for a small company like trion would be hard and they are going to focus more on the game that made them who they are more than a game that they made because syfy wanted to be different from the others.

I mean they are even putting defiance related material in rift, that should prove my point right there!

I love the game and it does have plenty of potential, but I don't see it making it past season 2 of the show like most people have already said......it's sad

Maybe the way they will officially kill the game is they will say something on the show about a massive nova strike in the Bay Area and it wiped out the entire population, and we will go to log on and there servers will be obsolete......the end

Trion had some very large goals when they created the company. They didn't just want to be a developer of online games, they wanted to be a publisher / host site. They spent many millions of dollars on creating what they call the Trion platform and launched their 'Red Door Initive' to get other developers to use their platform.

To show the value of the platform they decided to develop or co-develop three different MMO-genre games, an MMORPG (Rift), an MMOTPS (Defiance) and an MMORTS (End of Nations). It was ambitious but it could have worked out well IF all three of the starter games were seen as 'successful'. Well, their partner ran into big issues getting EoN ready for launch so Trion took it in-house which lead to delays and cost overruns. Defiance was rushed to market to match the schedule of the cross-media TV show. Defiance was a very ambitious concept, supported on three platforms and tied to a TV show's schedule. It was a VERY big bite to chew for a startup company.

So, IMO, Trion still wants to have the Trion Platform used by other developers. That means they NEED both Defiance AND Rift to succeed. Hence, IMO, they dare not let Defiance fail. They will do what it takes, once the Defiance team has been reconstituted in Redwood Shores, to pull this rabbit out of the hat.
