Yeah. I love exploration. EQ1 blew my mind. It was my first MMO and it was huge to me.
Wow didn't impress me as much.
The problem I have with worlds, is that they are usually instanced off. What I mean by that is because of the game foundation, the world isn't usually "whole". Games like WoW where all the continents and some zones you need to zone out and portal because some continents are on different servers.
Rift where Telara and Bravene are probably the same thing. It just completely takes me out of the game.
Then there's the problem with unfinished land.
Lore wise WoW has some areas that should exist, but don't. Rift is really bad at this as they never finished Telaras coastlines, and Cliffside Vale and Port Scion just sit there, unfinished. Big gaping holes that remind you this is a game, and it's not finished.
This game has that problem too obviously. There's islands and landmasses you see in the game map but can't get to it.
Then there's the whole problem with "theme parking".
That's where an MMO MAY have a huge map, but the way the landscape is designed it basically funnels you in a small area.
Rift again is bad at this. While the Storm Legion zones are big, if you don't follow the quest paths, there really isn't much to see. There's no Easter eggs, no hidden cities, or ruins. It's just barren bumpy landmass.
This game kind of has the same problem. There are place you can go to, like west of The Crater bar, but there's nothing there.
So I do would love very much if the games landmass was increase and stayed one whole landmass instead of instancing it off. Unless of course it's another city or country (like if we go up to Canada for a zone), but I'm not gonna knock it points, because I can't really think of any contemporary MMO that has really gotten land and exploration right.
