You found one of the 35 types of mobs in the game. Only 34 more and you will have seen every mob in defiance season 1. If you would like to face more , get your credit card ready for the season !

Because it belongs to the dark matter faction . . . one of the 6 main enemy factions along with mutants, hell bugs, 99ers, scapers, and raiders. Check the wiki for additional info.

    Find your sniper rifle.

Zoom in on the red light.

    Shoot.

That should take care of your little spider problem.
Don't bring a knife to a gunfight. Bring a Rocket Launcher.

part of the quest line, you use an Orbital Strike to take it out.
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible are the ones who make violent revolution inevitable

It's the boss guard for the San Fran region. You have to attack it either as a group or solo with orbital or something else super heavy.

It was impossible to kill in the Alpha. Never even took damage.

Just because you could not follow the MAIN quest line does not mean that this was not beatable. I killed him each of the three wipes, and on the countless characters... You get to Torq and Cooper and once you clear Conkhite and have the Orbital Strike you get the mission to get there and you kill it. Very easy, but if you have not done the main story line, guaranteed death if you take him on.
