Impossible : at least one shot must be a headshot to do so.
    So... we agree.

Ah, right. That kind of aim.

Never said that. However, I've never encountered someone opening up with it from cloak. Hence the "cloak+big-hitter" phrasing.

Also, bear in mind my perspective is mostly TDM maps + Freightyard. I barely mess around with Shadow Wars but I do realize that's the "most popular" PvP right now. I just haven't really had much exposure to it.

Oh c'mon. Of course you do. Or else you wouldn't be on these forums. I know your secret... you're just a softie deep down inside with feelings

And about TDM, I don't know, on Obs I have seen many Surge Bolter/VOT Fragger/Cloak or Surge Bolter/Tachmag Pulser Cloak... As it is on SW. Waterfront however is still the home of Sawed-Off/Cloak. I won't talk about FY, it's been ages since I went there. It's interesting how things are different between EU and NA ^^
Too bad, it had such a great potential.

And still find-able on Steam. Currently dead on Origin.

Aside from the fact that the surge bolter requires as much skill to aim as an AR from mid range (I would say considerably less than any other non-charge sniper rifle), and the immense amount of damage it does for how easy it is to use. The other big issue is that it can be just as effective in SMG range. I decided to test it out once in FY at B. Since, at close range, the surge bolter requires the same aim tactic as a shotgun (acquire target, hip fire, no need to maintain target in the crosshairs), and you can jump/run around hip firing like a baffoon, it was almost easier to take out 3 people, just around the point, than when I use the SMG. Quarter charge body shot on one dude, switch to another while thick skin is active, quarter charge body shot, switch back, next dude is dead, switch back, second dude is dead, third guy drops easy too.

Bottom line, the Surge Bolter, can be an effective weapon at all ranges. There is no other gun that can compete with it's utility. Even at full range sniper battles, the first shot can be charged and scoped but the second shot doesn't need to be, and that's really all you have to do to kill the other sniper. It's drawback of being visible while cloaked isn't a balance.

Conneri - you're Courier shots were not so misplaced.

Chili - Shadow Wars lately on NA and EU could almost be renamed to Surge Bolter Wars.
Actually, make that, Cloak Surge Bolter Wars.
The good snipers still stick with Bolt Actions for the one shot kill though.

The Surge Bolter isn't as much an issue on TDM or FY due to the abundance of cover and limited game area.

Surge Bolters are just getting a lot of love / hate at the moment since Shadow Wars are pretty much PvP at the moment. If all the various PvP types were popping all the time, I doubt Surge Bolters would have received as much attention.

100% spot on including Conneri's not so misplaced shots. Now they just need to bring all the other guns up the level of the Surge Bolter.

Well, minus last night's endeavor. Shoot Courier, completely miss Dod in an enclosed space, weapon switch while dodging, watch him reload and die to shotgun to the face.

And yeah, Surge Bolters in FY at least last night were not terribly effective. The couple I saw were kinda obvious due to the big glow they give off and even without it, the person would try to get into spots and you could sweep in behind and kill them before they knew what happened. The Shadow War I did though... it was burn Cloak just getting into range (which I do mostly anyway but it was mandatory this game)
