Dark Matter Ark Fall Ego Spikes.

Its happened to all of us. We've all seen it. You know what Im talking about. Dumb Players running up to the Ego Boosts and activating them when the Monolith or enemies are not even around. And essentially wasting them.

Now I can see how players can get caught up in the whole mess of things and just sprint by to activate them for the hell of it. But what I just witnessed is idiocy at its finest. Let me paint you a mental picture....

I show up to the final Ark Fall with the masses. As the Ark Core's crash and spawn the Ego Spikes I notice the Core that Im closest to is glitched. The Spikes by it are in the air, and to activate them you would have to jump to do so. Now seeing this made me happy because I thought "Well now these Idiots cant run up to and activate the Spikes at the worse possible times, Im staying around here!". The 1st Spike charges and I jump to activate the boost. I noticed that I had to activate it the moment the icon would appear, which was like a 1 second window. I thought this was great. This is Idiot Proof. You cant just run by and active them. The Spikes are safe and only to be used during the right moments...

Lol, well low and behold the moment the Spikes are charged players run over to activate the boost..even though no enemies are around. These stupid ****'s look up at the floating Ego Spikes with their dumb bogan slack jawed faces and they all start hopping up and down to reach and activate the Spikes. Even though there are no enemies around to use the power boost on. After doing so they all run away to the next core to waste those boosts.

Its one thing to run by to activate and waste the Ego Boosts when they are at normal height and reach. But to see these idiots go out of their way to jump and reach so they can waste the Ego Boost is something I wish I never witnessed.

Defiance has a large collection of ******bags in games as well as the forums. I have seen this too.

    Yeah, it's annoying.

When the spike is charged and ready, I'll always stand with my back against it, watching for potential enemy spawns. If I'm lucky, others also do the same (more or less). I've noticed that mouthbreathers seem to take more of a hint *not* to needlessly activate it when they see a group of people doing that.

I tried asking people not to set it off early over area chat a couple times, and got met with the usual 'shut up c**t', 'back to the kitchen', blah blah blah. I wish guys would speak up and say something.

I hear you guys and am on the same page too. To many idiots rush for the green like slurm addicts, its especially noticeable when the spikes glitch in the air and light up. They jump up and down repeatedly trying to suckle off the glowing teat, aching for that next fix.

    Hehe Slurm addicts, nice.

But, yes, I end up being one of the unfortunate ones that, just today, had one of those who decided that it'd be fun to press the little E button to activate the spike way to early when absolutely nothing was around.

Maybe Trion will fix it like they did the skitterlings......
I can see it now, every 45-90 seconds, your character will randomly slurm out.

I can understand been more then a few times I went to run half way across battlefield to get to one in time just to watch someone set it off when I'm 10 ft away.

But none the less there are mass amount of players there. If your truely feel you need to be green for damage boost it should be your job to get there in time. I typically try and wait for a few seconds for people to come but I always tend to see someone who's not wanting to wait and presses it.

I guess I'm a minority here, because I just don't get these boosts. I never use them (unless I'm accidentally in a splash zone when one goes off) and still do pretty well damage wise if that's what I'm focusing on. Why are they THAT important that people feel the need to get on chat and cuss people out over them?

Because it quadruples damage, doubles rate of fire, increase movement speed by 50%, reduces reload time by 50% (that one with Overcharge and Overload is hilarious).

It's only meant to be used against the Monolith. Even against DM enemies, it's completely overkill and useless.
Too bad, it had such a great potential.

And still find-able on Steam. Currently dead on Origin.

Doesn't your total score have an effect on equipment dropped at the end?

Because that would be a pretty good reason to be irritated, I would think...
