Could you please provide the following :

Did you play in the Beta?

Have you tried since our latest patch?

Still the same "Critical" error message?

Did not play the beta, have installed all the patches and still the same critical message.

Ok. What many people did was delete their Gamertag profile and downloaded it again. It worked for me, but you need to know your Microsoft password.

I've been reading today that people on the same servers are having totally different experiences, with some having perfect access and others none at all. Not tried connecting since about 1pm but I was on there from 5am with very few problems whilst a friend of mine 5 miles away cant get anywhere. Will start playing again shortly.

I know that deleting your profile sounds a bit extreme but its worth a try if you still can't get on tomorrow and most people are fine. There's definitely something weird about how some profiles are being rejected.

Same as everyone else, Tried from 8am this morning pretty much non-stop all day including literally a second ago(6.45pm) and i keep getting the same message CRITICAL "The defiance service is not available".

I bought a big hard drive just for this game as I only had a 20 gig and totally formatted it.... Still does not work

Try deleting your Gamertag profile and then downloading it again. Delete profile only.
