These are just my opinions.
I have lots of opinions.
Some of them, on occasion, people have agreed with.
I do not trust those people.

I don't think they accounted for the next gen consoles being around the corner during development. If they had, it would've been a lot smarter for them to develop for the PC side of things only at first and then port them over and dumb them down for the current gen consoles and then since the next gen consoles would've had higher specs, the transition would've been so much smoother. Would've probably saved them a lot of hassle and money as well. And we wouldn't have such an inferior product.

I'm glad I only spent $5 on Bits.
Not true. EQ2 allows the user to determine how many players within view range to render as costumed or render as generic.
That sounds like what I'm seeing to only a certain extent. There has to be more involved than the cache limit on PC considering what I've seen.
Example 1) Playing off hours for NA PC (say 5am-6am M-Th EST) players I encounter are rendered as costumed everywhere except major arkfalls. During peak hours when game population is moderately higher, no players are properly rendered anywhere.
Example 2) During major Arkfalls and other peak population times, player interaction can be interrupted by the rerendering of a player. I've been noticing that when i crouch to revive a player during an arkfall, mid-cycle the server will rerender them from generic surv to their costumed appearance. 7/10 times, this will break the revive and force me to start again
@ Thearl:
There's a mechanic involved with the game where once a player gets within X distance of your avatar they render appropriately. It seems that the amount of players in the area dictates this distance until you basically get to 1 meter or so which accounts for the sudden render pops with avatars.

You guys better watch what you say. The moderators have been on a warpath lately and are locking/deleting threads if anyone says any negative thing about Trion or Defiance.
Here's a tip Trion: Instead of running around trying to put out little fires and cull the masses who are unhappy with your product, why not actually try putting out the blazing inferno that is your game? But that would take actual work...
In any case, yes, the consoles ARE hindering the PC side, which is why I have learned a VERY valuable lesson from all of this. DON'T BUY MULTIPLAT. MMOS! Or at the very least, wait and see how the PC side is supported first. The way the patches and changes have been implemented on our side of things has been disgusting. I didn't buy the game for Xbox 360 or PS3 because they are INFERIOR MACHINES compared to a tricked out PC rig, simple as that.
Why would any self-respecting MMO player gimp themselves by doing that? I get why the console junkies do it, but anyone with even a modest PC should not be investing in console MMOs. The tech just isn't there yet, and even with the next gen, it STILL won't compare to what PCs can handle.
PC players are handicapped because of a poor business model that caters to consoles and is ultimately biting Trion in the *****.
I like my loot how I like my baby steaks...rare...
The shiny moonbeams ate all my corncobs. They sliced my mother's pearly-pearls and sent the Rakk to graze on her piano-driven corpse! MY PARENTS JIGGLED AND SQUIGGLED AND I DIDN'T KILL THEM I PROMISE! They called me INSANE! No, I am not insane! I am throat-scratch! I am the pants! I... am... RAKKMAN!
Has been happening since launch. Can happen anywhere - not just at arkfalls.
A few weeks ago, I finally noticed something. I was at San Fran Overpass. Just standing there reviewing my inventory. Someone was changing their loadout or weapon. 1. Had their armor on and a charge blade. 2. There was kind of flash or something and then they became the clone. They had a gun out. 3. After a time, I saw their armor again. 4. Kind of flash again and they became a clone with a charge blade.
I had never noticed the clone effect when a person changes loadouts or weapons. But that proved to me that it was not the number of people on screen causing the clone. Important to note as well that this happened in San Fran, one of the lower populated areas.
That is more of an application interacting with the server issue. A delay in the portion of the app that loads the character information. As the person accessing menus, it is probably the same reason that the menu, loadout changes take so long to load. I bet when you do those things, to others you are a clone for a time.
