Dev Update: Tier 4 Lockbox update

Trick's got a new blog post up today (been a busy day for blogs) about Tier 4 lockboxes.

Ark hunters,

Recent improvements in Votan synthesis tech have enabled a significant improvement in the rewards from Tier 4 Lockboxes. Tier 4 lockboxes will now reward gear with rarity of rare (blue) or above. Additionally, the Tier 4 Lockboxes provide the best opportunity to earn Legendary gear of all of the available lockboxes.

Tier 4 lockboxes will provide:

· Two weapons of rare or higher rarity

· One gear roll for rare or better gear including a chance of earning a charge blade

· One gear roll for rare or better gear with no chance of earning a charge blade

Thank you for responding to player demand. I sincerely appreciate it. It's unclear what the percentage chances have been changed to, but hopefully the changes will be significant enough to be noticeable.

Two questions remain, though: do other lock boxes have a chance to drop blades too, and has the useless synergy problem been addressed with this change as well?

I'm a little weary of having a larger chance at charge blades in rotation. It's not like the charge blades have rolls on them. Most of us already have our orange charge blades. So this is essentially not going to change the drop rates if we have an increase chance of getting an item we already have and don't need.

Now if only we could actually trade those charge blades.
